#126 Re: CE4 Publisher » Publisher suddenly not working » 2015-01-13 05:16:00

(FTP links Deleted by moderator)

I hope that worked.

You'll see in the screen shots that I get when I go to File>plug in manager>TTG, I get this screen. It says its installed and running. However, when I go to Publisher Services>TTG I get this screen where I can't save it. Rod asked me to provide information in my TTG-Be file. Note it is located in previous posts.

To be clear, the problem is not with a particular gallery. I can't get publisher to work at all.
Rod hypothesized that there may be a corruption somewhere. If that's the case, would it be easiest to simply delete the publisher file either on the website or the publisher plug in file on my computer, i.e.The file that is located in the C drive in the Web galleries. I've included a screen shot of what the folders look like in my 'Web Galleries" folder. Now that I look closely, isn't there supposed to be a file for publisher there? If so, that's no doubt the problem.

#127 Re: CE4 Publisher » Publisher suddenly not working » 2015-01-13 00:49:48

How do I send a screen shot? I have the screens ready to go but I don't know how to include them in a post?

#128 Re: CE4 Publisher » Publisher suddenly not working » 2015-01-09 23:44:12

Do I just cut and paste the entire log in the PM? or Is there a way to put it in a folder on my site. I so, I assume I could simply put a new folder on my site and upload the log file to it. Please advise.

#129 Re: CE4 Publisher » Publisher suddenly not working » 2015-01-09 02:49:39

Actually the e mail to Ben with the logs came back undelivered. Not sure how to get him the logs as there does not appear to be a way to attach a file to this message.

Here's my site: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/ I've enabled TTG Guest. the password is TTGBEN. I'm not having problems with any album but with publishing in general. I sent my logs to Ben in an e mail.

Here's some background first. At the beginning of each year I develop a new catalog. I do so to make my files more manageable. I did so this year i.e. 2015. I expected all the settings to transfer from the 2014 catalog to 2015. Most settings did transfer but the Publishing Services did not.  Yesterday I went back to the 2014 catalog, opened the Publishing Services tab and noticed that the TTG Plugin icon was there but it said it was missing. I went back today and all references to TTG were gone. So today I tried to reinstall it following the directions in "Install CE4 Publisher Lightroom Plugin".

On my site, I made sure that the TTG-BE file was still there and the Publisher folder and my first album (MartysTestGallery1207) were in the correct places. They were. I then set up a Publisher Instance and checked the authentication and it was successful. I went to save it and it indicated that is was not saved. I tried clicking on the SAVE button on the lower right. I also double clicked on the TTG icon and it gave me an option to save. Neither worked.  Of course, I can't get it to publish. Any ideas? One more thing.

I noticed that I have two files on my site entitled "MartysTestGallery1207" with slightly different names. Could that be the problem? I don't think so because nothing was changed in the TTG-BE Publisher Settings section. It was working before so if nothing was changed it should continue to work as before. But I thought I would mention it anyway. Thanks for your help.

#132 Re: CE4 Gallery » Metadata and Watermark not showing up outside of Gallery » 2014-12-24 02:33:55

I got it this time and all my galleries are updated. But I have a few questions. I'm just curious in reference to your comment above, Can I see the metadata in the thumbnail and large images in "MartysTest..." by looking in Fille Zilla and clicking through the file. if so, what do I look for?

Also, on a few of the Galleries that I just updated some of the new Album  descriptions or titles did not show up on my site. I made some minor changes. I updated with new settings and that did not help. Any thoughts?

Finally, when using Markdown to add information to Album title, description and thumbnail in Color palette, do you recommend always using Markdown for every single entry? And when cutting and pasting, do I "copy HTML" or just "copy" or doesn't' it matter?

#133 Re: CE4 Gallery » Metadata and Watermark not showing up outside of Gallery » 2014-12-23 05:24:32

I spoke too soon. I took an existing Gallery (10 Fest) and uploaded it with the new settings. The same settings as "MartysTestGallery1207".  No watermark or metadata appeared on any of the images. I tried hitting the Control/F5 key and got no change. I don't get it.

#134 Re: CE4 Gallery » Metadata and Watermark not showing up outside of Gallery » 2014-12-23 05:05:25

I got it. The problem was with "MartysTestGallery1207". I  uploaded the new gallery a few days ago with the changes and saw no change. Here's the workflow that worked today. On export "MartysTestGallery1207" from LR to my desktop I made sure I simply did not overwrite an existing file. It's possible that's where the problem occurred. In other words the settings were not changed at all when I uploaded it. Or it could have occurred on the upload to my site. This time I checked "overwrite if newer". What ever it worked. I have another question just because I'm curious.

Where is Publisher Settings? I've looked in Output Settings and it has only "Publisher Setup". Plus there is no box to check to" Push Metadata". I've also looked through all the settings in CE4 Gallery and for the heck of it in CE4 Pages and found nothing. In TTG-BE there is "Publisher Settings" but no check box for "Push Metadata".

#135 Re: CE4 Gallery » Metadata and Watermark not showing up outside of Gallery » 2014-12-23 01:00:46

My goal is to have both the watermark and the file name (in my case it's mainly a series of letters and numbers) to be displayed on each image on my website. I created a Test Gallery in CE4 Gallery. Both the watermark and the file name are displayed. So I think I have the correct settings in Gallery. I updated the settings. When I move to the Library module (to publish) both do not show up in the images. I get that the watermark and probably the file name will not show up in the library module as you described above. I went ahead and published the Test Gallery and neither the watermark nor the file name appear. Here's my Test Gallery on my site: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/ … ages-slug/

I've played around with the View>View Options menu and they appear to just show the metadata fore each file while in LR. That's helpful but not for these purposes.

#136 Re: CE4 Gallery » Metadata and Watermark not showing up outside of Gallery » 2014-12-22 10:13:16

The settings in Publisher Settings and Image Info are consistent. There was no change. The watermark and file name show up in images in gallery in the web module. But when I go to the Library module the water mark or file name don't show.  Also,

The view>view options seem to be related to information when viewed in LR only. Plus there is no option for watermarking. I tried the copyright option but that did not work either. Any other ideas?

I've developed a number of galleries which are on my website: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/galleries.php. I want some metadata and watermark to show up in the images on my site. I have the boxes checked for meta data 1 and watermark and both show up on the images when I'm in CE4 gallery. However, when I go to the Library module in preparation for publishing I get the image only. Of course nothing shows up on my site either. I checked the settings in Publisher>edit settings>Features and unchecked the box and indicating I should exclude the watermarks in thumbnails. I also made sure I had the correct copyright in the drop down box directly above that check box. Finally I made sure the the folder in TTG-BE had all the latest settings in CE4Gallery. But all those seen to be "downstream" from the problem. I think the problem is more an LR problem than CE4. That's because the problem first shows up when I switch from the Web gallery to Library. Any ideas.

#138 Re: CE4 Publisher » Gallery produced in Publisher » 2014-12-18 09:46:35

That's basically what I thought. If I upload a new gallery, I assume I should either name it MartysTestGallery1207 or I will have to in the Publisher settings in TTG-BE and change the name of the folder to match the new name. BTW-in the publisher settings do I have to put anything in the box reference to the vendor name. If so, what do I put in. I'm using g mail.

#139 Re: CE4 Publisher » Gallery produced in Publisher » 2014-12-18 07:14:20

Go to: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/galleries.php. I just uploaded gallery "Recent Photo Shoots". I used the workflow where I Exported then uploaded in File Zilla and dragged the folder over to the Gallery folder on my site. Look at the Navigation menu. Now go to "Anna" and/or "SWTU". Look at those pages. You'll notice that the pages (and navigation bar) are different from "Recent..."). The last two galleries were uploaded using the publisher method. I'm wondering if when I use publisher, I get the settings that were in the initial folder that was placed in TTG-BE. If so, can I simply delete that folder and replace it with a new gallery folder with the updated settings?

I'm getting started with publishing from LR and have been successful at doing so. BTW-it's great and so much easier and faster.  But I've noticed that the images uploaded through publisher are on a different gallery page than on the other more recently developed galleries. I assume those images uploaded using publisher use the settings from initial folder the was placed in TTG-BE . If so, can I simply delete that initial folder and add a new folder with the updated settings? If so, then it follows that any time I make any meaningful changes in a gallery (not things like title, description, slug etc.) I should then upload the folder with the new settings in the TTG-BE folder.

#141 CE4 Pages » Naviagation Bar is different In LR than on the Web » 2014-12-16 08:00:15

I developed a Home page using the Gill template. I decided to make some changes and make the navigation bar go across the top (not down the side). When I work on it in the Web module the navigation bar is clearly across the top. However when I upload it to my website, the navigation bar is on the side. This occurs on all other pages too with one exception. When I'm on the gallery page on my site and click on Gallery, the page that loads has the navigation bar across the top.

I'm thinking that perhaps I should start over and begin with the default pages preset. I want to avoid doing a lot of work again. Will my settings automatically be applied to the default pages? I suspect not. If not, can I do a hack and go from My Gill Pages to My Default Pages? Or would I be right back to where I started?

When I upload Pages to my website I've just been overwriting the new settings with the old. Should I delete the old one first, then upload the new one? I'm thinking that may be the problem as my first Pages had the navigation bar on the side?

Here's an unrelated question. I want to have only a slide show on the Home Page. I now have a slide show and an image at the bottom. How do I get rid of the image on the bottom?

Here's my site: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/

#142 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery not showing up on my site » 2014-12-12 10:42:13

It worked but the second time around. I don't get it but it worked. But the hyperlinks are going across the top and I want them in a column-Thats what I liked about Gill. is there a setting that changes that? Thats all for now. Just wanted to let you know how it turned out.

#143 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery not showing up on my site » 2014-12-12 03:37:03

First and least important, is there anything I can do about changing something so that LR will not remove the dashes from the .lrtemplate file names?

More importantly, I just lost my pages file entirely. Something weird is going on. I think I should just start over with Gill pages and gill gallery? Does that make sense to you? also...

I first tried updating with changes in pages gill, then hacked the file to the gallery file and it was not successful. Then in the process of checking the lines of code using Notepad++ I lost pages-For what it is worth. Does any of this make sense?

#144 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery not showing up on my site » 2014-12-12 02:16:06

You're right. I had two galleries on my site all I had to do was scroll down. I should have used two different images. Sorry! But I'm having another problem.

I'm trying to use one of TTG's preset templates in Pages and it's companion in Gallery. It's the Gill presets. I went through the pages options, got everything set up and was able to get it to my site and it works. You saw that on my site. I tried to hack the settings in Pages and apply them to the Gill Gallery template.  I tried the hack at least 5 times and it does not work. I followed the directions to the tee including saving my work in notepad++.  Then I reopened Lightroom and updated the changes in the gallery. None of the settings that I made in pages, and copied to the the gallery file using notepad++ show up when I open gallery in LR. I investigated further.

I checked the lines of code from pages (74). I pasted all of them in gallery (74). I saved the changes in Notepad++. I closed Notepad, then reopened it and the 74 lines were still there.  I reopened LR. Immediately updated the latest changes by right clicking and I still got the default gallery-not gill. I rechecked the lines of code in the gallery file using Notepad++ and I don't have 74-even after I saved it.  I have the original  41 lines or so. I don't get it. Also, this might be related but it might be a separate problem...

The file structure in the templates folder in the Web Templates folder on my computer doesn't match the template file structure in Lightroom. I tried to delete a folder from the Web Templates folder  but it reappears after I reopen LR. Again changes that I made don't stay changed. I tried moving files around in LR but I couldn't do that either. Any ideas?

#145 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery not showing up on my site » 2014-12-10 02:28:37

I renamed the gallery in File Zilla. But I'm not understanding something. I've used previous versions of TTG software and have not had to use the naming conventions that you described. What am I missing?

The problem is that I'm trying to get a gallery that I've created in CE4 to post on my website. I was able to develop and upload a "CE4 Pages" page. Except for the Search and Gallery buttons on my Home page, all  buttons work i.e. info and contact. In fact, I can send a e mail via the contact page. I'm using the same work flow with CE4 as I did with CE3 to upload the gallery but I have not been successful. I'm trying to work on the Gallery problem first. Then I'll work on the Search button problem.

I'm trying to send screen shots. See the posts from Rod above. Is this correct?  screencaps2

I am not expecting to see a gallery that I uploaded to ttg-be/templates/gallery. I understand the purpose of that folder in that location is to allow other galleries to post. Am I wrong? That folder is "MartysTestGallery1207".

I don't know the difference between an album and a gallery.

Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to create a Gallery in CE4 gallery and upload to my gallery folder on my site. This is what I did with CE3. I'm trying to use the same workflow and it doesn't work. I've read the literature on how to set this up and triple checked it and it doesn't work. Is there another resource for me to access to explain it differently?

#146 Re: CE4 Gallery » Gallery not showing up on my site » 2014-12-09 09:41:52

I thought I responded to this already but it didn't seem to get posted. Here's my site: http://www.martinjenichphotography.com/ .

I uploaded the first entire gallery into /ttg-be/templates/gallery. I uploaded the second exported gallery into the galleries folder on my site. It's the second folder down from public html.

I get the img tag part-easy enough, but where do I upload the images (I assume screen shots) to the web.

I've got CE4 pages working on my site. The "info" and "Contact" pages show up as I designed them and the contact page is able to send an email. But, I can't get a gallery loaded. I uploaded one using File Zilla and it shows up in the file hierarchy on my site. But nothing happens when I click on the "Gallery" button. I think it might be related to not having a file on the site.

I have a couple of screen shots to show the error message and my folder hierarchy. Is there a way to get you the screen shots?

Ill assume not and I'll just type the message. "Can't update this collection. Unable to perform action;get setup for template....Create this template with CE4 Gallery then upload to your server." If a gallery shows up in my folder heirachry in File Zilla-don'tI already have a template? Please advise.

#148 Re: CE4 Pages » Best way to update Pages from CE3 to CE4 on the website » 2014-12-08 09:44:13

How important is it to have ce3 publisher on my site in addition to ce4? I have a copy of ce3 publisher unzipped and ready to go. But when I looked at your installation instructions, I realize that I lack some knowledge that, if I had,  would make it easier to understand. I could easily forgo the galleries that I developed in ce3 and just start over with CE4 galleries.

If it's super important to have both,  then a screen shot of how both would look on my site would be helpful.

#149 Re: CE4 Pages » Best way to update Pages from CE3 to CE4 on the website » 2014-12-08 08:34:21

Before I read your post, I was able to get CE4 pages to my site. I saved to my desktop the galleries in CE3, then deleted them from my site. The problem I was having was I was uploading the entire CE4 pages folder when I should have been uploading only the contents of the folder. When I uploaded the contents it worked. I then simply overwrote CE3 with CE4. Would you recommend that I delete everything that I have related to pages CE3 and CE4 Pages, then upload CE4Pages to get a clean copy. Or is there no such thing as a clean copy and therefore it does it not matter. If I should delete everything do I start with the "Fragments" folder and take everything from there down?

I currently have publisher installed but that's not working either. That will be the next topic I'll need help with. But I want to get pages running first. Speaking of Pages, I used a preset of Pages (Gill). I noticed that the Navigation bar had a small number of "sub hot links" that I think were just examples. I tried to delete them when I was working on the template but couldn't but when I uploaded CE4 pages there were gone. is that going to be a problem at some point?

I'm not getting anywhere fast. I decided to take it one step at a time. I'm trying to get a CE4 Pages onto my site which now has CE3 Pages. Do I delete CE3 first then upload CE4. If so how do I delete CE3?
