Yes, I did all the Wordpress installation and I had the Blog up and running and looking good.
But is it OK, to rename the Blog folder as About - which is also why I had the About link as ... /about/index.php?
I intend to use at least one more blog/wordpress page as an actual Blog on the Blog link - (for this I would install another separate WP).
I'm glad you mention the About link - this was my intention, but please tell me if I'm bonkers ...
Export a CE4 Wordpress Blog
Rename the the blog folder as About
Delete the about.php
I actually did try this a few days ago and it didn't work, so I guess I am bonkers.
How do I go about turning a blog into an About page? :-)
ok, I just popped publisher in and it's working now!
I could swear I had tried that already earlier, along with every other permutation!
Thanks again Rob
A day or so ago there was a problem at my web host .... I was making some sub domain redirect adjustments, an error occurred and I had to contact support etc
That problem now 'appears' to be fixed but I can't get my (php based) home page to even load.
it should be in the directory .... myhost>CE4>photostomp
if I put a basic html site in there, it loads.
Any suggestions?
Whoops - I think i've just had a realisation about how to deal with my test site thats make such more sense.
Build the test - leave it where ever I build it - when I finished, just point public domain to that folder
I expect that's really obvious, now I come to think about it and should solve the above worries.
Moving on .....
Ok thanks, I think I'm following this correctly and you're advice sounds good.
Just one thing then ...
if I use the public_html/phplugins/ approach that you suggest ... I guess I would need to (go back) and use this server path in my 'initial' Pages export as well? (I mean, as well as all the other gallery etc exports)?
(as apposed to leaving it blank, because if it's blank it will not work while it's in my test subdomain).
hope that makes sense
actually, thats not the only question ...
should I even use this 'Ping' back address? ..... why not stick with the actual absolute URL that I used in the Pages 'server Path to Php etc first of all?
It is with considerable regret that I find myself in this area of the forum.
But I give in - I gotta tackle these php things :-/
Ok, first up is this 'Server Path to PHPlugins without trailing slash'
Since I am working in a temporary 'test' subdomain, I figure this Path is going to need updateing once I have finished and I move everything to my actual root domain.
So since I have already set up another permanent subdomain for stuff like favicons, apple-touch-icons and multiple Mastheads of various dimensions, I have gone right ahead and placed the whole phplugins folder here as well.
I was also genius enough to put this media subdomain address in my initial Pages 'server path to phplugins without trailing slash' field.
As long as I have the whole phplugins folder in here (and not just the phplugins.php file, like I tried the first time), it seems to be working .... or at least I get a Ping back anyway.
My question is ....
is this a sound approach or will there be some other unforeseen consequences?
Thanks - think I'll be living with smaller text for the time being.
Do you think there are too many menu items?
I have noticed on a small Android Tablet that I get two lines of menu - obviously unacceptable.
The switch to mobile is on default - I guess it's either less items or bigger switch value.
Yeah. yeah, I realise I could do drop downs with phppluggins haha - maybe one day
you'll have to enable phplugins and then follow the instructions in the link I posted above.
I'm actually wondering if this is really necessary now .... I tried with one big long png graphics banner and to my surprise that seems to happily scale between devices - can that be true?
that might be a good solution. go ahead and post a link to the site and we can take a look.
I really wish I could do all this stuff, but I'm afraid your link above and all the phpplugin stuff might be a headache too far for me - or am I just being a wimp?
Here's a link, but it's early days you'll understand .....
Justify is a standard CSS property that works on paragraphs. For the purposes of short list-items, it's basically the same as Left.
Re-visting this old thread ....
Are you saying there is no way to Justify the Menu items with them equally spaced between two given points?
ie. Pad first Menu item with left hand side indent/margin by 10 px and last Menu item Pad/indent/margin 10px from right hand edge .... then space equally between those points?
How would I go about adding custom CSS here? - I'd definitely like to know anyway.

In which case, I'm not sure if the graphic + text approach offers any advantage?
thx
I am trying to utilise the 'Profile Image + Text' option.
I would like to keep my graphic to the left of the 'container' and the Heading + Sub Heading to the right.
I say 'container', but I'm not really sure if that's what it is.
The Graphic stays left - fine.
With the texts, I have the Alignment set to Right, but it's only going Right to about half way across my 'page'.
I can push it away from the Graphic with Lateral Separation, but I would like it to just to stay aligned to the right edge of my Page/Body/Mantel thing.
Then I figured the text would then be free to move towards the graphic as the window/screen size diminished - but it doesn't seem to work like that.
Sorry, my description is probably not great! ... doe that make any sense?
Awesome - that worked great!
I'm attempting to utilise the Wordpress blog as general information list.
I want to remove the date, time, author and all the archive folder bits and lines below each blog post.
I found a Plugin to easily remove the date.
I found a plugin to remove the Author - but it still leaves a quotation mark (") at the beginning.
Is there an easier way to remove it all?
Thanks
As always - thanks Rob.
Yes, you understand me correctly - I only want a single gallery at this point, though will expand later.
I realise Publisher is not really necessary for this, but I just thought I'd use it as a way of getting a handle on Publisher generally.
My 'Galleries' page had also been assigned as the Home (full screen flip), so this was another factor.
With out Publisher, I was removing the Galleries folder and replacing it with my export from CE4 Gallery - which worked fine.
I might try your hidden buried approach but I'm thinking this might get confusing later when I come to update, so possibly ditch Publisher on this one.
Thanks again
let me try and explain this better ....
In Pages my target for Gallery menu item is set to /galleries
I have a gallery template (called CE4-Gallery) placed here .... ttg-be>templates>gallery>CE4-Gallery
So ...
1/ do I have an empty 'galleries' folder at top level?
2/ in the Lightroom Publishing Manager ... what do I put in 'Top-levels galleries directory?
3/ when setting up the Album .... what do I have for ....
Album: ?
Album Description ?
Slug?
In features, do I click 'Hide from Auto Index?
I must have tried nearly all combinations, but keep getting things like ...
"Can't Update this collection
Unable to perform action: createAlbum
Message: Unable to find a directory ./../../galleries.
Please create this directory and set permissions to 777."
Hi Rob, this helps me understand a bit, but I haven't been quite clear enough.
It's not about the Home page enter button (I have that directed to my About page).
I have a Gallery menu item and I just want my published album to respond to that.
I must be simple, but I keep getting it wrong :-(
This is not an update issue, as this is my first time with CE4 Publisher.
I've installed all the Publisher components.
Site framework is from Pages, with the Gallery assigned to Home (fro Full Page Flip etc).
For my actual gallery, I just want this to open straight into a one page gallery (for now) - so I set the links to /galleries and created the actual gallery using CE4 Gallery - placing this output Galleries folder at top level.
This all works great until I try to introduce Publisher to my gallery.
I've made various attempts but keep getting problems (broken links/permissions/nothing changing).
At the moment, if I create an Album and publish ... this is then popping up as folder inside my galleries folder.
I'm thinking this is something to do with not using multiple galleries and Auto Index?
How can I make this work with a single gallery?
Thx
Cheers Matt, thanks for your insight.
I have a site that needs to be found by search and it's been heavily penalised by 'Mobilegeddon' - my fault, as I haven't updated it since CE2.
Think I'll probably try a gallery and give it a go, as you suggest - if I learn anything, will let you know.
thx again
But Blog as Home aside, do you reckon the Home page SEO is much more important than the other pages such as About and Info and Contact etc?
Would say that if other pages are good on textual SEO, then the loss on the Home is not too important?
In the process of considering the pros and cons of Full Screen Flip as Home page ....
I am wondering whether using this has a negative impact on SEO?
If the Home page is populated with only images, is that a problem?
Thanks
I am struggling to have control of the spacing between navigation menu items and also with the social media icons as well.
With the navigation items, Justify doesn't seem to have any effect and looks exactly the same as Left?
I would like to set Padding left and Right to keep the items away from the edges of the navigation bar and then Justify between those points.
How to approach this?
thanks
thanks Rob .... I have a feeling you may being hearing rather a lot from me!
I'm working on new designs for an upgrade into CE4.
I'm also playing around with the WordPress options for the first time - WordPress is totally new to me.
I have this idea for an About or Info/Services page, like this mock up here ...
http://www.slphotography.co.uk/about_page.jpg
Without major coding skills, is this a 'doable' design within Pages?
Or maybe Wordpress would be an option?
Thx
