I really appreciate all the work that has gone into TTG plugins, but am concerned that their full potential is not being utilized.
Unless I'm missing something, there seems to be a lack of information on what each setting does in each panel of each plugin. I know there is some documentation at http://ce4.theturninggate.net/, but it's pretty thin beyond the basics. The trial and error method of change a setting, refresh, wait for Lightroom to occasionally unfreeze, then only to find it's not what I want is really inefficient.
While I've been using the plugins for years, I still cringe at the thought of making our updating a site. Sometimes changing the smallest thing can take the better part of 20 minutes trying to find the setting, and for many sliders, I still don't know what they do.
What would be ideal would be to have a screen shot of each panels with arrows that explain what each slider and setting does.
I teach Lightroom and know that better documentation would help to create more interest in self hosted web galleries and further support TTG, which for many people, myself included at times, is too intimidating.
Thanks,
Reid
Thanks! for both answers.

My site has a slideshow on the Home pages built with TTG CE3. Is that still an option in the CE4?
I'm updating my site, www.lumiograph.com and had images to left of the text on About and Services (et. al.) pages Now it looks like the option is only above or below the text. Am I missing a setting?
Thanks!
A good help to add to what I've already come up with.

I'll be putting together a website for a client using TTG galleries. (Yes, they'll be purchasing the galleries).
I want to know if anyone has a contract they've drafted for clients for website services, or a checklist for what they need from the client for the project.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Reid
I was expecting to see what I've seen in the past, just the changes I'm currently making, not an existing online page.
Thanks for the link about sub-domains
But why is it accessing an online webpage? I don't remember previous versions doing that when I had a live page.
Also, I'm interested in creating a test site to check my site before making it live. I have a sub-domain: xxxx.lumiograph.com
I understand about relative links, but is it possible to do so with absolute links and not have to change them all? The only thing I could thing of would be to do a search and replace after the pages are generated, but it would probably be easier to just change the links and re-generate the pages.
Thanks,
Reid
I started completely from scratch with a CE 4 Pages, switch to page preview and in 07 nav hyperlink I insert http://www.lumiograph.com/contact Then I click refresh, click on the Contact link and I get the screen shot I showed you.
This is consistent with my experience working with my client.
Thanks,
Reid
Apologies if I didn't make myself clear. There is no code to look at because the page has not been generated. This is happening while I'm Lightroom before I've created any pages.
Yes but the point is it's grabbing the photo from my online website. That image is not in the filmstrip

this is pulling from my current site:

In previous versions of Pages, I was able to make a home pages slideshow based on the first several images in the filmstrip. Has this been removed? What am I missing?
Thanks,
Reid
I was working with a client yesterday and after I put in absolute links for pages, the other pages displayed the default site page from his ISP. It's as though the gallery was acting like a web browser. Is this supposed to happen? It took a while to figure out what was going on. I guess a work around it to wait until the right before export to add the links.
Is this correct?
Thanks,
Reid
If you are copying settings from one template to another, how does the share resources function work? What is being shared?
Thanks,
Reid
Thanks!
I've researched this forum and the documentation for copying setting from one plug in to the other, but haven't found it. I'll be using Gallery, Pages, and Auto Index. I've done this before with mixed results.
Any recommendation as to the order of plugs I should use for ease in copying settings?
Thanks,
Reid
Sounds great! reason to upgrade right there!
CE3 contact form. I haven't upgraded to CE4 yet. Does CE4 have some anti spam feature?
Can you refer me to a page to see the difference between CE3 and CE4. Does CE4 offer responsive design that fills the screen like http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014 … v=top-news
I'm getting a consistent amount of spam. I'm tired of it. Been going on for months.
Is there an easy way to integrate a captcha, which we all hate? Some are so hard, I give on a site. I would like to implement an image based one using my images, but open to solutions that integrate easily on my site and doesn't look like either a Mensa or nursery school test.
Thanks,
Reid
Thanks!
I teach Lightroom and will be teaching an output class where I'd like to highlight TTG plug ins.
I would like to create a list for the class, as well as for this forum on TTG Best Practices, Tips, Suggestions, and Gotchas based on our collective experience. So if you have any, please list them! I'll start:
1. The designer of TTG plugins can't change Palette names, they are baked-in by Adobe, so settings may not appear where you think they should. Come up with a mnemonics or other tricks to remember were settings are. For example, think of Color Palette and Copy (as in text) as both starting with "C", so you'll find text under Color Palette.
2. Make sure you update the correct preset! Once overwritten your preset is gone. They aren't stored in the catalog, so you can't retrieve them from a back up catalog.
3. Back up all your Lightroom presets so your TTG created templates will be saved in case you overwrite them:
Windows:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom
Mac
//Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/ folder
4. Make a master template for your galleries. Then when you need to add a new gallery you just need to fill in the Album Title and add text to the page.
5. If you want your galleries to show in a particular order, start off with a number, including a zero before single digits ( i.e. 01, 02, 03) so 1 and 11 won't be next to each other.
6. To help your site be found by search engines, follow the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) naming conventions found at http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … zation_seo
7. You must refresh the gallery (Cmd/Ctrl-R) to see settings change. Sometimes a refresh won't show your changes. In that case, re-save your gallery and then you'll see your changes.
That's a start. Looking forward to hearing from others.
Thanks,
Reid
yeah, that's a good work around.
