#1 Backlight Support » Need help understanding Publishing in Backlight » 2018-03-05 03:40:54

I don't understand the process.  I have a CE3 site so will Backlight overwrite it?  Can I choose where the pages export or the path?

Need more info to understand.  I don't know what an API is.

I'm starting to think that Backlight may be more of a challenge then it's worth and it make more sense to stay with CE3 since it took a while to figure that out

Thanks,

Reid

So to get full screen, I have to buy another add-on?

Any video tuts on Backlight?  It would be a lot faster than text documentation and looks pretty complicated so far if you don't know what's going on, even with CE experience.  Again, I've found TTG tools to be great, but the "how to use" part challenging, which has kept me from trying to figure them out

I've been using TTGs CE pages, CRG, and others since soon after they came out.  Last year, I bought BL because I wanted to stay current and support TTG but haven't done anything with it.  If it ain't broke....

So I'm wondering what would be the benefit of rebuilding my site with BL besides that my site needs a re-fresh.  What features does if offer that I'm not aware of?  Will it allow full screen images, I call it the New York Times effect?

I know I've had some PTSD (Post Traumatic Site Disorder) with going nuts trying to find out how to change small things and found it difficult due to a lack of documentation as to what each slider would control, which I don't want to re-create just to end up with the same site I have now.

Open to thought and suggestions.

Thanks,

Reid

I know I need to export hi-res downloads separately, but I can't find documentation where the folder needs to be uploaded to.

#6 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » embedded google youtube doesn't show on iphone » 2017-03-16 14:04:44

It is in the visible area and I can't see it, it's just that I have to press the left justified hamburger menu on the upper right side to have it be visible. Is there way of disabling that, or disabling the mobile version and going back to the desktop view. I tried turning off rendering  Mobile thumbnails but my phone keeps pulling up a mobile.PHP page

#7 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » embedded google youtube doesn't show on iphone » 2017-03-16 11:08:21

I've tried to disable the mobile.php file by giving it a different extension, but it seems as though the iPhone either creates or somehow generates one to use.

Again, is there a way to disable the iPhone with you being created in  client response gallery CE3? Do I need to try to dig up an older version of the client response gallery that won't create smart phone friendly galleries?

I added the code you to video in the mobile.php file, and it works, but only when you tap the right menu at the top on the iPhone. Is there way of having it displayed by default?

Thanks,

Reid

I generated a client response Gallery, then edited the index page by embedding a Google YouTube video.

Looks fine on a desktop browser. When I try to load it on an iPhone, it doesn't show the embedded YouTube video. Not in Safari when I request the desktop version, and not even when I've regenerated and uploaded the gallery with unchecking iPhone thumbs, which I'd like to turn off.

Is there way that I can get the embedded YouTube video to show and run on a smart phone? I'm hoping to set things up so that images on displaying can be linked to my website for additional sales through scanning a QR code.

Thanks,

Reid

#11 Backlight Support » Why Backlight? What am I gaining? » 2016-06-10 03:09:42

As someone mentioned, my site is up and I've already sweated through setting up TTG products for years, so what am I gaining with Backlight?  Would I be spending $150 for Backlight, Pages and CRG just to create what I already have? Is there a feature comparison with CE4 products?  If I already have my site up and running, what am I gaining with Backlight?   I know you are excited by Backlight, but now, I'm thinking it's just another piece of software to struggle with.

In CE4 or Backlight can a photo span the width of a browser like on the New York Times site?

Thanks,

Reid

How to I get filename to show under photos?  I tried under Image Info, selected Filename under Large Image caption and refreshed, but that didn't do it.

Also, what changes are there in CE4 from CE3

Thanks, for the help.

#20 Re: CE4 Gallery » Adding a video: best practices? » 2016-03-01 06:22:18

Thanks,

I looked it Stage over a bit and it looks like my best option would be Vimeo hosting of the video, since the wiki says,  Serving video directly from your site will chew through your bandwidth quickly.

If vimeo would only embed in my webpage it seems that there wouldn't be a big difference to just posting a video still linked to vimeo.  Am I missing some advantage with using Stage?

Thanks,

Reid

I've created a slide show video in ProShow Producer and would like to add it a a gallery.  What is the best way to do so?  What format, resolution, and pixel size is recommended that strikes a balance between size and quality.

Is HTML 5 the new standard, or what should I use?

Guidance much appreciated.

Thanks,

Reid

It seems that if I don't have AutoRun turned on I don't have access to slideshow navigation unless a thumbnail is clicked, and then the controls are in the upper right corner.

Is it possible to have a cover image in the block and click it to be able to activate a slideshow? Am I missing some settings?

Thanks,

Reid
