#1 Re: CE4 Stage » Front Page Gallery using Stage » 2016-04-08 17:07:08

Matt,

Files copied.

Full Screen: Auto is working fine in the MAMP environment - consistently with the Flip and Gallery options.

The Repeat and Fit, plus Identify Plate and Heading options also OK.

Thanks

I'm testing updates using MAMP.

Using Pages 7.0.15 and Stage 6.1.6.

Page Home page uses Stage to provide a gallery of photos uploaded using Publisher.

This is working fine with a Gallery or with a Flip display. - a display of images and my Graphic Header.

However testing the Full Screen Auto option of Stage is not working.  (Although it does display properly in the Preview window).

In the MAMP home page I see a Text page header and the navigation button but no images at all.  (the navigation works).

If, in the Stage setup,  I disable the  Get Shared Resources Pages then I get the "gallery of pictures" when running the Full Screen Auto option - but it does not pick up the Graphic header from Pages.

Any suggestions?

#3 Re: CE4 Cart » Broke before the first fence ... » 2015-08-08 20:37:59

Hi Ben,

Problem overcome.

In MAMP under the PHP tab there is the option to Log Error to screen and to file.   To screen was checked and has been unchecked.
I now get the Cart Admin as expected.

Should there be any cause for concern that the error messages are still being created and are going to file?

Regards

Geoff

#4 Re: CE4 Cart » Broke before the first fence ... » 2015-08-08 20:17:23

Hi Ben,

It is a new purchase/installation which is identified as 3.1.2 in the Readme.txt file.

MAMP is also the latest version - any tips as to where to look for the problem?

Regards

Geoff

For familiarisation I am converting an existing MAMP site to add CART.
The Cart folder has been added to ttg-be.  Pages has been updated to incorporated Cart.  An existing gallery has been updated to include Cart.
ttg-be/admin starts normally and validates current versions of Publisher, CRG and ttg be.
When I access the Cart admin (to start the set-up process) I get the following:
Notice: Constant THICK_LINE already defined in /Users/Geoff/Websites/lbgcseniors/ttg-be/framework/config/config.php on line 75

Notice: Constant THIN_LINE already defined in /Users/Geoff/Websites/lbgcseniors/ttg-be/framework/config/config.php on line 76

Any suggestions as to the way forward?

#6 Re: CE4 Publisher » Search has died on me ... » 2015-04-27 23:20:08

Post mortem.

Following several escalations it was established that changing php to 5.4 made no difference.
1&1 suggested that it may be a PHP memory problem - but provided no useful feedback to enable this to be verified in any way.
My package for the web site was set up in 2010 - before CE versions.  This package gave me 50MB of PHP memory.  1&1 upgraded my package to a new "Unlimited plus" package with 80MB of PHP Memory.

This has resolved the problem of the Search - it now works.

Thanks to Ben for his efforts during the investigation process.

#7 Re: CE4 Publisher » Search has died on me ... » 2015-04-22 14:25:34

Somehow I acquired a   ....yahoo.com instead of yahoo.co.uk imap email address.  Now corrected.

#10 Re: General » Inline Images in Text block » 2015-04-22 06:13:18

No that is my principal domain and I have a number of sub-domains  one of which is turning.geoffhawkins.me.uk

As part of my transition from CE3 to CE4 the replacement gallery structure was created.  The CE4 Pages was installed.  Search was working - and very impressive.

I started the process of converting the AutoIndexes and Galleries to the wanted templates - around a quarter of the job was completed.

A batch of around 10 galleries were being "recompiled" under their Autoindex when I had a Lightroom 5 error message - An internal error has occured - metadatahandler:2155 c stack overflow.
Despite this message the process of creating the working AutoIndex completed (but very slowly) and all of the Galleries were created and could be viewed.

I continued processing the remaining AutoIndexes/Galleries - they all appear to be working normally.

However when I tried to test the Search option it failed to respond and eventually gave this error message

quote
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.(where is this?)

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
unquote.

Perhaps this can be resolved by using the file rebuild option in Publisher Admin -  your suggestions would be appreciated.

#12 Re: General » Inline Images in Text block » 2015-04-22 05:19:26

Thanks - that has resolved the problem.   I cut and pasted the original CE3 code to test the original problem - what is the difference between  CE3 and CE4 to stop it working...

The way the URL is accepted is different -   the original used the form of my sub-domain address   http://turning.geoffhawkins.me.uk/galleries...etc.   CE4 needs the full domain  i.e.  http://geoffhawkins.me.uk/turningclub/galleries ... etc.     Just when I think I'm beginning to understand ...

#13 Re: General » Inline Images in Text block » 2015-04-21 15:21:29

This is the block pasted directly from Coda - as created for the CE3 version of the site...

style="width: Auto; height: 185px; margin: 5px 20px 5px 10px;"
class="float-left" />

Alwyn regularly shows high quality pieces.  He is currently working on a 30inch high goblet...

Included in his gallery are goblets, platters, salt and pepper shakers, Saturn Rings boxes, pens, hollow forms, mushrooms, toothpick holder, bowls and lidded boxes.

I tried re-importing with the same result.  My current thought is that a setting needs to be changed in the Gallery template or the AutoIndex template to permit the image in the Block...

Tried something else - perhaps the URL is wrong...  I am using 1&1.
Using Transmit ...
Copy of URL from CE4 site:
sftp://geoffhawkins.me.uk//turningclub/galleries/007_member_galleries_2013/GalBlock_thumb/AlwynMoorbeyGallery2013.jpg

Note the //    is this perhaps a sub-domain marker?

If I enter http://turning.geoffhawkins.me.uk/galle … ry2013.jpg as an address in my Safari browser I get a 1&1 message that "the domain has just been registered"

The sftp rings a bell with earlier problems resolved by Ben ???

Update - 29/Apr/2015 -   the class="float-left" of CE3 has been superceded by the class="alignleft" in CE4 (this again allows multi line text within the height of the image).

#14 Re: General » Inline Images in Text block » 2015-04-21 09:28:02

No - what I have there is as automatically imported by the CE3/CE4 conversion process.

I'll try re-working them in Coda tomorrow and let you know..
Thanks for your help.

#15 Re: General » Inline Images in Text block » 2015-04-21 09:07:54

I've tried that but it made no difference.  (Mac - opt + return for new line).

This is being done within Publisher.

I am currently converting my website from CE3 to CE4.

Mostly this is going well but Images within the text block are not appearing - just the original html instruction. (which worked under CE3).

The website is http://turning.geoffhawkins.me.uk
The problem can be seen in the Galleries>Member Galleries.
The text block intro should show a picture.

Can you point me towards a solution?

With CE3 it is possible to have a Stage page with a Gallery of images and the Text side by side in the Block.

So far in CE4 I can only get the Gallery above  the text block.

Can someone point me in the right direction...

#19 Re: CE4 Publisher » Search not finding anything on mobile devices » 2015-02-03 06:28:48

Have implemented the patch and the search facility works on both iPad (3) and iPhone (5c). A selection of search results is shown together with the appropriate thumbnails.

If the thumbnail is clicked to show a fullsize picture there is a total failure - back to deep levels of the isp server and the "domain not registered" error message.

I note that this is quite an old fix - has anything else been done for the mobile device search facility?  (I vaguely recollect something simply saying that Search was not available in CE4 yet).

#21 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » CRG - not creating email message » 2015-02-01 02:43:21

Hi Ben,

Success at last.

It seems to be working using the method you described - where a dedicated IMAP email address is added using the 1&1 control panel...

Initially I added the dedicated email address into Vendor Email and then completed the SMPT setup manually.  Although no errors showed up it simply did not work.

The next time I added the dedicated email address into Vendor Email and then selected the MAIL setup option - in the edit mode this showed all blank fields and I added the SMTP Password into the relevant box (the only box permitting an input).  On exiting the edit mode all of the SMTP fields showed the appropriate information (I assume picked up directly from the Mac Mail settings).

A test run of the CRG then produced the required report into my email inbox.

Thanks for your assistance and forbearance.

Geoff

I tried again using my original email address for the Vendor Email (with its password) - this failed.

#22 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » CRG - not creating email message » 2015-01-31 01:30:08

Today I tried again with 1&1 - explained the CRG creating text for email and the need for this to be accepted by the 1&1 email I was using.  With their YL tech I created a new email address in the 1&1 control panel with assurances that this would work.
Same result - everything appears normal - messages say that the email will be sent and a response will happen.   Then the black hole.

Has anyone had success using the CE4 CRG with 1and1?

#23 Re: General » Transfer Sites to BlueHost » 2015-01-30 19:53:54

Thanks Matt.

You have done at least one article extolling the virtues of BlueHost including recommendations to move...

Have you done anything to describe the process of moving.

In line with TTG recommendations I am now considering the transfer to BlueHost before upgrading my main site from CE3 to CE4.

Do you have any guidelines to facilitate this process.

I note that BlueHost offer a package to do the task for you ... is this worthwhile.

#25 Re: CE4 Client Response Gallery » CRG - not creating email message » 2015-01-30 06:52:23

Hi Ben,

This morning I spent some time with 1and1 and set up  an authenticated smtp email address (the same one I have been using for CE3 CRG as a pop email) - this includes a password for authentication - this has been incorporated into my CE4 ttg-be mail setup.

Not really sure where this leaves me.

When the ttg-be email address setup is done using the "mail" option the edit seems to leave all fields blank and then when editing is finished it shows the smtp.gmail.com .

I'm definitely confused ... that's not difficult...  if the above authentication is not the answer what should I be asking 1&1 to provide me with or facilitate?
