Transfer Sites to BlueHost

In line with TTG recommendations I am now considering the transfer to BlueHost before upgrading my main site from CE3 to CE4.

Do you have any guidelines to facilitate this process.

I note that BlueHost offer a package to do the task for you ... is this worthwhile.

Regards

Geoff

Re: Transfer Sites to BlueHost

I haven't used their transfer services, but I've heard from others that it's gone pretty smoothly.

Re: Transfer Sites to BlueHost

Thanks Matt.

You have done at least one article extolling the virtues of BlueHost including recommendations to move...

Have you done anything to describe the process of moving.

Re: Transfer Sites to BlueHost

As I said, I've never gone through their migration process, so no ... I think Rod may have used it, though, so you might want around for him to chime in on the thread. He usually doesn't take very long to join a conversation. ;-)

Re: Transfer Sites to BlueHost

Honestly, I don't remember if I used a Bluehost migrating service or not.
I remember something about having to set the Nameserver at my old host (GoDaddy) to point to Bluehost's DNS Name server. (Or words to that effect)
It all went very smoothly. And quickly.
I think the only tedious work I had to do was to change phplugins server paths in all my indexes, galleries, etc (this was in the pre-publisher days so it was a bit of a pain)
