Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'm using Backlight2 since november 2018. I was very happy with it until now.
I have a publishing problem and I don't know where it comes from
When I try to publish a picture I get the following message in lightroom:
Unable to perform action: uploadRendition
Message: Unexpected error: Call to undefined function exif_read_data() in ImageResizer.php on line 92
There have been made no changes to lightroom or backlight since the last time I used the publisher.
Can anyone help me with this problem.

You can check if the exif module is installed when visiting http://mysite.com/backlight/admin/list_php_modules/

When I go to backlight/admin/list_modules/ I see the newest version of the publisher is installed (4.0.7) When I look in the LR plug-in manager it says version 4.0
When I look at the list_php_modules I don't see anything referring to "exif"
Any suggestions?

Exif is not listed. So either enable it yourself or contact your host.
I guess your host changed your php version and the new one doesn't have the exif module enabled.

The Lightroom Publisher plugin is also at version 4.0.7. You should download and install it. There's a link to it at the top of your Backlight Modules page.

On the hosting site I can choose different PHP versions. It is now set on native, it can also be set on 5.1 to 5.7 and 7.0 to 7.3 do you have any idea which one to choose?
I already updated lightroom publisher to 4.0.7 but I still can't publish, the same error message.

Many hosts are discontinuing PHP version 5.x. So a good bet would be to use a 7.x version. You can try the different versions you have available and see if one of them has the exif module enabled. Otherwise contact your hosts.

Tried to change it to 7.3 now my site is offline! Contacted my host waiting for reply.

My host replied that it's probably because the site can't handle the higher PHP version. At this moment I can't reach my website in any way.
Help!!!!!!
This is the message I get when trying to reach my website:

Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@gerardstaals.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

I use PHP 7.3 on my test site without issues.
Since 7.3 doesn't work for you, select another version. And just to confirm that you use the latest version of all Backlight modules.

Sorry I'm late to the party. The exif_read_data could probably be solved by reinstalling the Backlight Publisher module. To do so, visit Backlight Modules and click 'reinstall' for the line relating to Publisher. That should solve it for publishing from LR, but will still leave publishing from Backlight broken, until the exif module is added to your site.
Can you provide me with FTP access via email so that I can look into what's causing the 500 error?

Hello All,
I contacted my host yesterday, they made some changes to the 'htaccess code' and installed the exif module. Everything is fine again!
Thank you all for your support, glad to know there's such quick response. Tanks again.
Gerard.

Unfortunately, there is still an issue on your site:
Something went wrong
Unexpected error: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/gerarpj183/.php/php-mail.log) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/gerarpj183/domains/gerardstaals.com/:/home/gerarpj183/domains/include/:/etc/pki/tls/certs:/tmp:/var/tmp:/usr/local/lib/php/:/usr/local/php55/lib/php/) in Unknown on line 0
I think that's something for Ben to look at. I would send him your FTP access credentials.

When does this error happen?
You'll need to take this up with your host's technical support. This error occurs outside of Backlight code execution. There's nowhere in our code that attempts to write to that location.
