I've begun to encounter an error when trying to upload galleries from Lightroom. The program will just sit there for a while and the return the following error:
I have no other errors with FTP, the internet, or other web based functions.
TTG Backlight version: 1.1.1
Backlight Publisher version: 3.1.1
API key identification works fine.
Ideas?
Thanks!

You could be hitting upload limits. Take a look at your php.ini file and check the upload limits (upload_max_filesize). Try increasing it to 64M

The tech at the other end says they have increased the upload setting to 128 Meg, still the same error. This worked perfectly before, and I haven't changed anything. Stumped.

Ben will likely need logs and possibly admin access to your Backlight back end.
this document is from CE4, but it will help in finding where the logs are kept:
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … g_for_help
for the logs stored on the server, you'll find those at /backlight/data/publisher/logs/

I don't think logs will help. What is the API URL? Who are you hosting with?

My website is at http://www.creepyhouse.net/. The hosting service is http://www.fatcow.com/. I can set up a guest account if you need one. Backlight login is at: http://creepyhouse.net/backlight/admin/?a=login
Thanks!

Can you provide the API URL, as entered into Lightroom's publisher settings.

Do you have any rewrite rules in your .htacces file? That can effect your API URL
Try including the www in you API URL

No, I don't Rod. To be honest I don't even know what that is! However, it has mysteriously started working again. I think it happened when I went to the Web section of Lightroom and switched around a few times between different templates. All of a sudden there were a million uploads. If somebody fixed this for me, thanks! If it was the mysterious computer repair elves, thanks to you!

I'm having the same issue but haven't had the time to focus on it very much. I am thinking it might be a band width issue for me. A tracert to rossdickinson.com times out on some of the hops. I upgraded my Comcast Internet to a faster speed, but haven't seen much improvement. I get between 48 and 58 mbps on downloads and 11-12 mbps on uploads. I even reinstalled 1.1.1. I was last successful on build a web page on 1/6/17 when put out one more day of my photos in the Tetons in 2012. http://rossdickinson.com/1TestSite/trav … y18th2012/
I'm very busy with eBay and doing an estate sale of my wife's extensive QVC collections but need to get this working again. Glad to find this thread.

Are you getting the same error? If not, can you post it?
What have you done so far to try to solve this? Have you tried increasing upload limits in the php.ini file?

Would you post an example of php.ini? My server doesn't appear to have one, I'm looking at the root of backlight subdir. Would it be someplace else, perhap the root of rossdickinson.com?
I first removed the Album from the TTG-Publisher-Events, where I upload photos of events I photograph and share. My first course of action was to remove that instance and recreate it. Then I marked one photo in the link to the Teton day I had added successfully on January 6. The first try to republish got the exact same error. I then rebooted my Xfinity modem yet again. I tried republishing the Teton day again, this time it was successful. I must say that publish of the photoshoot has uploaded two or three photos, then subsequent tries my add another one or two. I even disable Norton firewall and virus scanning and tried...no help.
I even went through to process of removing and re-adding Backlight 1.1.1 in the order outlined. Good instructions BTW.
Another suspicion, just before I started having this problem, Windows update happened forcing a reboot. During the time coming back up there was DOS activity showing on the screen, sorry no clear memory.

Long ago early in my IT career. I had to support a global network, where the higher ups tried to run SAP, Microsoft Mail, over frame relay with 56k guarantee, but the "bursts" were supposed to cover things. To make matters worse the purchased bridges, not routers. Talk about a mess.
I'm wondering what type of equipment Xfinity is running. Sorry for digression
Network Solutions is my web host provider.
Thank you again Rod. I just had a brisk eBay evening, selling my late wife's QVC Collections. Sleep will give me fresh perspective. I'll think of more things to try and will be happy to test a php.ini file.

The Windows installation should have nothing to do with it.
php.ini files should be in the root of the site. If you don't have one you can usually go into your host's c-panel. Look for PHP config or something similar. Once you make a choice, the file is usually created. You can then access it via FTP and make the change to the file upload limit.
More here: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 454#p43454
If in doubt, contact your host.

Rod,
I had my provider help me get a php.ini file in place in my cgi-bin directory.
They contents the provided were
memory_limit = 128M
output_buffering = 2048
I added to it so it is now:
memory_limit = 128M
output_buffering = 2048
upload_max_filesize=64M
I also worked with Comcast again, finally got a tech who did something helpful, but couldn't understand the accent. It was either enabled the breach or bridge on my linksys router hooked to my Comcast modem. I was able to publish and additional 9 photos before I got the same failure. Any recommendations to add/change in the php.ini file? At least I'm moving in a positive direction.

There lies your problem. A few years back we found that Network Solutions servers were blocking Publisher requests before they reached the application. I took this up with NS, going as far as signing up myself in order to try and work with their technical support.
It was a painful experience. They would not acknowledge the problem, or investigate further without payment of an investigation fee, Their ticketing process seemed to store no background on the issue, so that each correspondence started from the beginning.
I'm pretty sure at one point we noted on our products page that Network Solutions should be avoided.

No need to reply I read further. Bluehost even has a site transfer service which seems to be helpful for me as I deal with my loss my late wife. The web stuff is an important part of my moving forward.

@R42itus, I've recently added affiliate links for Bluehost, HostGator and InMotion to the sidebar of our main site. All three are worth a look if you haven't yet committed to Bluehost. You can find the links at http://theturninggate.net/blog.

Thank you for all the help. I've migrated both of my domains to Bluehost, not without some bumps, but overall I'm pretty happy. The publishing from within Backlight works very well. Now, I need to port the existing website over and...replace.
