#176 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight 2 Login Problem » 2020-02-06 08:52:04

Ben

Hi Jack, I received it, thanks.  I will look into it this evening, Melbourne time.

#177 Re: Backlight Support » Albums not displaying after Backlight 1 -> Backlight 2 upgrade » 2020-02-04 20:38:20

Ben

Hi Geoff, I'm glad to hear.  The upgrade process should have been much more seamless, and your situation will almost certainly remain OOTTWNSU...

#178 Re: Backlight Support » Albums not displaying after Backlight 1 -> Backlight 2 upgrade » 2020-02-04 19:37:28

Ben

Hi Geoff, I'm looking into this now, however I can't see any issues.  Is everything now working for you?  If not, can you post any specific URLs that aren't working properly?

#179 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Backlight 2 Login Problem » 2020-02-04 13:20:29

Ben

Hi Jack, see if the instructions here help: http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … _passwords
In particular the section In the event that you are not able to receive the email in step 4:

If that still doesn't get you in can you provide me with FTP access and site URL so that I can look further into it.

#180 Re: Backlight Support » Albums not displaying after Backlight 1 -> Backlight 2 upgrade » 2020-02-03 21:25:41

Ben

Can you provide me with a Backlight admin login via email, so I can look into this?  It's end-of-day here in Melbourne.  I can look into it tomorrow.

#181 Re: Backlight Support » Albums not displaying after Backlight 1 -> Backlight 2 upgrade » 2020-02-03 21:07:23

Ben

Hi Geoff, have you run the function "Update Album Files"?  this is available on the main Backlight landing page.

A quick look at your page shows that your background image is enormous: https://www.cusick.org.uk/backlight/des … age/3?v=29  5.9 MB for an image that doesn't have much detail.  I suggest that you optimise this image.  Something in the range of 100-200KB should be able to provide the same detail on the web.

#182 Re: Backlight 2 Support » API not successful » 2020-02-02 14:44:35

Ben

Hi Bernd, thanks for the access. The problem is not what I thought it was.  The non-default API Key that you've set works for me.
What may have happened is that the session on the server used by LR has kept hold of the old API Key.  Can you try restarting LR and see whether you can use your new API Key?

#183 Re: Backlight 2 Support » API not successful » 2020-02-02 12:30:36

Ben

Thanks. I’ll email you the exact steps I’ll be taken. I should be able to take a look later today.

#184 Re: Backlight 2 Support » API not successful » 2020-02-02 05:53:35

Ben

Something has been missed in the upgrade and the API key (and other settings) are still in the Publisher database, taking precedence over the value that’s in the Admin database. Can you email me a Backlight admin login so that I can clean this up for you?

#185 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Publisher Not Working - Nil Issues » 2020-02-01 06:27:32

Ben

Hi Margo, I'm glad to hear that solved it!

#186 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Publisher Not Working - Nil Issues » 2020-01-31 15:42:14

Ben

That doesn't look like you have the correct version of Publisher.  If you're using recent versions, then in the left-hand pane of the Lightroom Publishing Manager, it should be listed as "Publisher, by The Turning Gate".
Try re-downloading the LR Publisher from this link https://get.theturninggate.net/install/ … r/release/
Making sure that the files have been extracted from the zip file, and reinstalling through the LR Publishing Manager.

#187 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 12:54:24

Ben

To replace thumbnails, update the files within 'thumbnails'.  To replace the large photos on the single pages, replace the files within 'photos.

#188 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 12:53:13

Ben

Yes, you are wrong in doing that.  If you want to replace the large images, replace those in the 'photos' directory.
The 'master' directory is used internally by Publisher.  Changing anything in there after files have already been published will have no affect on your site.

#189 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Website search is followed by name Home » 2020-01-30 12:50:11

Ben

Thanks, Brock.  I can see it now.  I thought you were referring to the Search page of your site... I'll look into this.

#190 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Website search is followed by name Home » 2020-01-30 12:40:48

Ben

I can't see the work "Home" on your search page.  Where are you seeing it?

#191 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 12:38:33

Ben

Hi Chumby, the confusion is whether you're referring to a folder named 'master' within the gallery when logged in via FTP.  Are you changing the files within that directory?

#192 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Workflow for non lightroom publishing (to include watermarks) » 2020-01-30 11:14:26

Ben

It’s not advisable to touch the master renditions. These are used internally by Publisher to create the other renditions as the files are uploaded. In the future they will be reused to regenerate renditions based on changes to the album templates.
Which version of the files are you intending to have watermarks and which without? e.g. thumbnails, large images for display in the browser (‘photos’), photos for download or photos for purchase.

#193 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Version of Backlight 2 » 2020-01-29 21:13:51

Ben

Hi Peter, Backlight 2 manages all updates within the admin page.  To update:

1. Log in to the admin page
2. Click on Backlight Modules under the Admin menu.
3. If there are updates available, click the button at the bottom 'Update All Modules'.  That's it.  After a few seconds your site will be updated.

The installer zip serves two purposes: 1. For the first installation of BL2.  2. As an emergency way of reinstalling BL2 if something is broken that won't let the admin pages function.

#194 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Checkboxes stopped working » 2020-01-28 18:39:04

Ben

I think I've found the problem.  The template you've used for the cart pages is using Okapi.  The pop-ups require Fancybox, which aren't part of the Okapi scripts.  This is likely an omission on our part.

Can you try using a Pangolin template for the Cart template?

#195 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Modified Search » 2020-01-28 18:04:14

Ben

Looking at the code, any changes to Language entries are meant to clear the localisation entries in the current browser.  However these are stored per application (publisher, designer, admin, etc.) and they're not all been cleared as they're meant to be.  I've fixed it for a future version of Backlight.

Another way of clearing language settings, and all sessions values, in a given browser, is by appending ?destroy to any Backlight URL.

#196 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Modified Search » 2020-01-27 16:15:54

Ben

To reset the language for the current browser, log into Backlight admin (if you aren't already logged in for the browser) then log out again.  The Backlight admin logout code clears all settings.

#197 Re: Backlight 2 Support » No links between album set and albums » 2020-01-27 07:19:23

Ben

Please see my email reply.  The site is getting confused by having a backlight directory within the galleries directory.

#198 Re: Backlight 2 Support » No links between album set and albums » 2020-01-26 16:34:45

Ben

Have you upgraded from CE4 or another TTG product?  Can you provide me with FTP access via email so that I can look into this?

#199 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Collecting Search Results » 2020-01-25 22:25:59

Ben

Hi Chumby, the search terms aren't logged at all.

#200 Re: Backlight 2 Support » No modules were found - HTTP error 301 » 2020-01-25 22:15:11

Ben

Thanks for the heads-up.  This is a DNS issue on our end.  We'll try to resolve this in the next 24 hours or so.

In the mean time, if you have an urgent need to access the modules page to update or install modules:

1. Rename the file /backlight/installer/env.php.skel to env.php on your server
2. Edit the file and change the value for GET_BACKLIGHT_URL to http://3.17.53.114/install/ so that the full line looks like this:

define('GET_BACKLIGHT_URL', 'http://3.17.53.114/install/');

This may only work for the next few days or weeks, and will need to be changed back when it stops working.  If not urgent, please just wait for us to fix the DNS problems.
