#151 Re: Backlight Support » download image not working » 2016-11-20 07:30:00

Terry, the other guys will correct me if I'm wrong (and I often am) but I think if you've got "create custom download via publisher" set you need to create a gallery or a publisher instance to upload those photos to a download directory on your site...I think. Myself I just leave the download images setting in the template at "use photos rendition" and that has been working for my clients.

#152 Re: Backlight Support » Howto make Navigation header backgroundcolor transparent,and opac ? » 2016-11-18 07:31:58

You can make theMasthead transparent in Backlight> designer> templates> whatever page template you are using. Then in the Masthead section for background color pull down the drop down and make the color rgba(255,255,255,0) The zero on the end controls color opacity with 0 being transparent.

#153 Re: Backlight Support » <ul> bullets not displaying » 2016-11-17 02:42:25

If you're trying to get a navigation menu in the tray it's actually easier to let backlight do it. Build your menu in Designer> Menu sets. Then in designer> templates. Pick your page template and at the top assign your menu set to the template. Then in the same template go to navigation trays> display always. For a different sort of list I'm not sure if the trays will take code in the tray copy area. I've had pretty good luck putting code in copy areas from within Lightroom when I publish. But that's about as far as I've taken it.

Um...when I click the link the browser times out waiting for a response. Anyone else?

#156 Re: Backlight Support » Cart button appears on Home page when first going to the site » 2016-11-11 01:01:09

Whoops. Spoke too soon. The problem was gone for awhile. Now it's back. So now I'm wondering what happens after cart is installed and sits for awhile? Does it make changes to the database? Or does something have to propagate through the site? Cuz it is pretty weird. Oh, by the way the site was also updated this morning to Backlight-pages 110, all without incident.

OPEN MOUTH, INSERT FOOT.
Well, talk about operator error. Combing through the admin section I happened upon an incomplete setting (in red, pretty obvious) in a product's shipping charge. Wonder of wonders, when I fixed that the problem truly did go away (I Hope).

#157 Re: Backlight Support » Cart button appears on Home page when first going to the site » 2016-11-11 00:25:41

Thanks Rod. Am putting up a new cart module as we speak.
Mark

Addendum: We have a winner. FTPd a fresh copy of module-cart to my site and the problem is no more.
Thanks

#158 Re: Backlight Support » Cart button appears on Home page when first going to the site » 2016-11-10 19:06:22

Have traced things back to July via subversion and can find nothing that fixes this issue. Would it be possible to re-install the cart module without wiping out all my products and pricing data? Or to put the question another way: is my cart data stored outside the cart module in such a way that re-installing cart wouldn't destroy it?
Regard, Mark

#159 Re: Backlight Support » Cart button appears on Home page when first going to the site » 2016-11-10 00:32:19

Hasn't always done it. Just noticed it a few days ago cuz it was drawn to my attention by a site visitor. I keep track of all site changes in subversion so I'll spend some time today back-tracking to see what I changed and when. More to come.

#160 Re: Backlight Support » Cart button appears on Home page when first going to the site » 2016-11-09 22:59:01

Reset cart?? No custom javascript, just the custom CSS. Did reset template cache and cleared browser cache. I also swore at it in Latin and German which is fun but not productive.
Mark
Found cart reset. Tried it. No go.

#161 Re: Backlight Support » Unable to add menu items to menu set » 2016-11-09 22:26:11

Weird. I'll be interested to see what the folks who know more about this than I do have to say. Considering that they are spread across the entire planet some of them are probably still asleep.

Here's a strange thing I've been chasing for a couple days. When first going to http://photophart.com the cart button appears in the upper right corner of the home page even though there is nothing in the cart. I am modifying the cart background color with custom CSS. If I click to a gallery then back to the home page, it's gone. Not a big deal but mildly annoying. Anyone else seeing this?

#163 Re: Backlight Support » Unable to add menu items to menu set » 2016-11-09 21:37:14

Did you try logging into backlight admin for the site then go here: Designer> Menu Sets> Design (for the menu set you are using, say..default) scroll to page bottom, click Add. This will put your new menu item at the bottom of the list. You can drag it up or down ad lib. Set the menu item as either URL or page or whatever as in the drop down list for the item you are adding. Don't forget to save it.

#164 Re: Backlight Support » Copy Area Fonts » 2016-11-02 10:00:56

Not one to become a geek was I...but the power of the force of coding overcame me. I was drawn into the magical world of Pan's labyrinth, helpless in the grip of the force. Such beauty, such power in such a simple line of code. Clearly, it's too late for me. Save yourself now! Or surrender yourself to the power of code and step into a new world. Once seen, it cannot be unseen.

Really, just kidding. It's not that bad.

#165 Re: Backlight Support » Possible to have Multiple Album set Pages? » 2016-11-02 01:10:27

Sure. You don't need a second installation of BL. In Lightroom create a new publisher instance for 2017 stuff and have it create a new top level gallery called...say...2017. Then publish 2017 albums to that top level gallery. Don't forget to assign a template to that new top level gallery from within Backlight> designer> templates> assign templates. You can use the same template you used for your 2016 stuff.

#166 Re: Backlight Support » Thumbnails blurry » 2016-11-02 00:42:22

I'm adding it to my list of places to get to during my yearly swing though the desert Southwest. Have spent the last couple of years  , 5-6 weeks at time exploring there. Problem is there SO MUCH to see. I'm going to run out of life before I run out of subjects. I'm not the first person to have noticed this essential problem: the incredibly short duration of human life.

Cool! I like the multicolor masthead on the gray background.

#169 Re: Backlight Support » Thumbnails blurry » 2016-11-01 20:18:28

On my system your thumbnails do appear blurry, but clicking the thumbnails instantly gives me the large image, quite sharp, no lag time. Maybe increase your thumbnail size a bit?  Thumbnail size is about 321 X 483 in inspector. Lg image is 1332 x 884. By the way the black and white gallery is cool. Looks like Utah...but where?

#170 Re: Backlight Support » Menu set question - two different options for masthead and tray menus » 2016-10-30 20:20:57

Yes it's doable but only for desktop display. I don't think it will work on mobile. Just tried it on one of my active sites to be sure, but it just duplicates the menus in the header and in the tray. I don't see a way to make them different. In Backlight go to page template> design> navigation, header> display, On desktop. Then, under that: Navigation,Trays> display> always. To do what you want with fly outs in the tray but not in the header I think you'd have to get really creative with phpplugins, if it's even possible at all. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just means I don't know a way. Rod, on the other hand (he's secretly a wizard) might have some better ideas here.

#171 Re: Backlight Support » Can't add new page after update to latest version » 2016-10-30 09:15:36

Not sure if this is relevant but if you're just getting started with Backlight, clearing the template cache will quite often fix weird problems. Backlight> Designer> Templates> Clear Template Cache.

#172 Re: Backlight Support » lost Masonary function on homepage with new update » 2016-10-30 03:10:22

Terry when I go to your site at the URL provided I'm redirected to http://www.wtgphotos.com. But I do see a page of images in masonry view. I Also see a big red error message at the bottom of the page that says this:

Something went wrong
Unexpected error: Module 'oci8' already loaded in Unknown on line 0

Please report error at http://community.theturninggate.net

You'll need to wait for one of the guys with the brains for help with that.
Mark

Addendum: Poking around your site (nice work, by the way) when I go to your gallery page (the art), it seems I hit a dead end. The albums listed there don''t seem to go any further and have no thumbnails. Possibly redirected to an empty gallery?  Anyway hang out till someone with a bit more savy on this hits your post.

#173 Re: Backlight Support » Can I use Backlight and CE4 in same root folder? » 2016-10-26 19:56:22

FWIW for a time I ran CE4 albums with a backlight controlled Wordpress theme and it ran without issue. In backlight I just created a menu item pointed at the CE4 album.

#174 Backlight Support » Strange error in Wordpress when editing theme. » 2016-10-24 20:44:04

I was playing around with adding widgets to Tray 01 in Wordpress under Appearance> customize> Widgets> Tray 01. I Get this:

Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/mysite/public_html/myblog.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/backlightWPtheme/inc/theme_options.php on line 54

at the top of the page.
I can edit widgets just fine and everything seems to work when I'm finished with it so the error doesn't seem to have an effect on anything. At least as far as I can tell. Just wondering what that error is about? And do I need to be concerned? Did I break something?
