#101 Re: CE4 Publisher » Internal error on new or changed galleries » 2016-01-07 01:38:47

I do not think removing the image  will help. I tried it with several albums and several album sets on several publisher instances. . Each time the same message appears. With different filenames.

Ill post the logs, thxs for the suggestion.

I have been adding albums and album sets to my site. It al worked wel until I suddenly got this error

Warning

Cant update this collection.

An internal error has occured. Json etc etc (see added image),     General error 10 disk I/O error.

This occurs on all updates with two different publisher services. So update or publish.

I did not change anything on the disk (settings etc.) Running a windows check revealed no problems with the disk. detelting an abum went well. It started when I made an empty albumset and an album in it later. I got mesages I first had to  publish the set. When I did that (also with a second (test) album set) there seemed to be publishing action (status bar) but nothing got published....

Where to look for answers ?

Thanks Ben

Reading your answer I should be fine. You see I do not have to copy !!!. test.theomolenaar.nl redirects in the hosting to the folder www.theomolenaar.nl/_pictures_CE4_V01  just as pictures.theomolenaar.nl redirects to _pictures_CE3 for the current version of my site.

So by changing the redirect the files are in the right place and I can change the api url. Since it actually points to the same location  and I am no copying anything I do not expect problems with file permissions.

But thanks for the explanation I'll look into that anyway for a better understanding.

Getting there thanks to  you  guys....

#104 Re: CE4 Publisher » Changing api url » 2015-12-29 06:58:26

Thanks, i'll look into that. maybe an option. Certainly for later if I change the domain.

The interesting part is that the wordppress database as everything else still is in the same place. www.theomolenaar.nl/_pictures_CE4. I might just reinstall wordpress and the theme. Because I was not planning for much content befoe going life anyway.

Btw I changed an api-url and it seemed to work, despite some error reports.. But I'll try to locate the database and figure out the content. I am not really technical but sufficient in sql and a professional data analist so i should make some sens of it:[_

txs again for the swift responses...

#105 Re: CE4 Publisher » Changing api url » 2015-12-29 04:08:00

I thought of that. But it would take me days to populate the site, test, filter out mistakes (there will be a lot of links, cross links etc ..) I also have to fill the wordpress related stuf after the switch because of the permalinks, so that woud mean a sloppy site for a long time...

And you are right. I can make another subdomain and test that with a smaller publisher set. Woud be handy if i had insight in how the publisher database works though. But that is not in the documentation..

#106 Re: CE4 Publisher » Changing api url » 2015-12-29 03:31:41

I understand that.

But can I change the api url. Without getting into problems.

I would like to put all the galleries in the test first so as to develope the complete site test the look and feel, the text, the lins etc. So a develop and test proces. A test site.

And then change the api url to the one of the 'normal site. I was hoping that I could then upload the galleries there.  I do not want to build all the albums, texts etc again. See here what I mean:

http://test.theomolenaar.nl/destinations/africa/

this is 1/10 t of the content. so i would like to migrate. Actually. the albums are already there because the subdomain test.theomolenaar.nl is forwards to the same directory as the pictures subdomain will be later on.

But I am not sure if and how publisher wil react to this change.. I know it works with the albums I have done that before.

I am testing and uploading galleries on a test domain. (actually a subdomain that I want to change later).

The api url lin publisher is test.theomolenaar.nl

Leter it is going to be pictures.theomolenaar.nl.

Can I change this and republish? Or will things go wrong ?

#108 Re: CE4 Publisher » Page image and publisher » 2015-12-14 02:14:00

Txs

I have done that before. Just hoped that the second image from each album would be above the ariticle. I now put 'uitgelicht.jpg' (dutch WP item) in the template. And chose to put the text of the album after the template text. If I do not want / have an item I can choose replace. Lots of possibilities in the framework :-)

I made a template that displays a page image (assign an image from the filmstrip to appear in the block) above the block. That, combined with a masonry payout beneath the block makes for a great layout (I think) for what I want.  http://test.theomolenaar.nl/galleries/t … en-footer/

This is a directly exported gallery. So I exported the same template and uploaded a test with the same images. Unfortunately there was no image....

#110 Re: CE4 Stage » Stage vs publisher » 2015-11-18 03:44:18

Ok great. I think I really like to add 'Stage-stuff'. Just discovered your tips site. Nice. !

#111 Re: CE4 Stage » Stage vs publisher » 2015-11-18 01:09:42

Sorry I am not clear.

Suppose I have an album set in publisher. That leads to a directory. In this directory I also place video's. That I manually  have to upload as you said.

Then I change things in the album set  and republish it. Will the video still be there, indexed etc. ?

Or should I be asking this in the publisher forum?

#112 Re: CE4 Stage » Stage vs publisher » 2015-11-18 00:32:01

Even better than I thought. I did not realize (nor read) that you could  use stage  as a template. I read the  documentation but I did not see anything about the relalation with publisher. What I meant is that a manually uploaded video in a album set that is managed by publisher will not be affected by republish actions etc.

Stage looks like an interesting addition for adding video's and other stuff. As I am progressing in prototyping I am getting quite enthousiastic over all  the possiblities and features of the (combination of) plugins.

But will stage work with publisher generated albums ? If I update an album set whil the stage content that I put in a directory stay unharmed?

Sorry, would be easy to try out, but than I would have to buy it first.

In publisher I can make galleries with a sidebar. And I have a sidebar in the wordpress theme. Is there a relation between those? Can I have widgets from the wordpress theme in the sidebar of the galleries?

#116 Re: CE4 Publisher » Are there limits » 2015-11-16 02:25:17

Ok 7 deep is more than enough. The separate catalog would be performance wise Because my LR with 50.000 pictures is getting really slow...

After remodeling my CE3 site with CE4 I got the idea to make a new site with a sort of minialbums. About one temple/attraction/topic etc. Masonry layout. With a short description above it. Something between a blog and the traditional photoalbum style.

But the performance of LR going from selecting a number of images, making a collection within a set and then publishing it worries me a bit.

If a make a site like this I will end up with several hundreds of albums nested 4-levels deep.

Will that be possible with publisher or are there limits ?

Should I do this from a special LR-catalog with duplicated pictures or does that make not much difference ?

Is anyone having experience with this ?

#118 Re: CE4 Gallery » Header » 2015-11-16 01:14:22

But it does work :

http://test.theomolenaar.nl/galleries/

" at the same time needed to be in a folder named 'galleries' for the code to execute"

Is says != which means not so it is not to be in a folder etc.

But the first  thing you said makes me think i maybe have to export this level again. Because when I did I never considered it an album. That would also mean that the header is not slightly different as it is now.

I am going to experiment a little with the contents of the headers and then adapt the size etc. After that I'll export the  indices again. The less exceptions te better

Thanks

#119 Re: CE4 Gallery » Header » 2015-11-15 04:18:54

I think we do not understood each other. I may have been unclear.

I want the album title to appear in the galleries and autoindixes. You gave me code for the galleries and I added the autoindexes. Later we added the mobile. And all the autoindexes and galleries are replaced. I can see that in the H2 (a visual travel blog) that is not in the LR export.

So far so good.

I had:

galleries---------------------No header, correct subheader and identity plate
--Asia------------------------correct header: Asia, correct subheader and identity plate
----China------------------------correct header: China, correct subheader and identity plate
------Albums------------------------correct header:the albumtitle, correct subheader and identity plate

So what is missing is an album title for the galleries level. So i wanted  to exclude that.

I want to include all galleries and autoindices except the one on the galleries level. Because I guess the . ALBUMTITLE. is empty at that level.

So i tried to find examples of use of parenthesis like if

((G_STYLE == 'CE4-GALLERY' || G_STYLE == 'CE4-AUTOINDEX') AND (G_PATH != 'GALLERIES') )

and after some trail and error got it working. You can see the different header. I have t make that right in the templates etc. but that is something I'll  handle later.

thxs or gettig me on the right path with the uppercase and statement. Would have taken me quite some time to figure that out...

#120 Re: CE4 Gallery » Header » 2015-11-15 03:27:22

I thought so. Since I know practically nothing about php. I do know Cobol, but that doesnt help.

I do not get it if it i case sensitive then it should be galleries because the directory is lowercase.

I believe that your suggestion does what you say. That is doing what your first piece of code specified: it replaces the masthead.

But I can see it already does that because it is an autoindex. However it fills the albumtitle in the header. And for the galleries folder the . ALBUMTITLE . field appears to be empty.

So if it would be possible to make the fist thing G_PATH IS NOT 'GALLERIES' it might do the trick. I am going to try that

I want to change the galleries folder into albums later because that is whats in my menu.

#121 Re: CE4 Gallery » Headers in Mobile versions » 2015-11-14 21:37:20

Ok

Yes that one also. That was in the initial setup. I found these lines in the autoindex file:

        <h1><span><a href="/">Pictures of a big world</a></span></h1>

        <h2><span>Travel photography by Theo Molenaar</span></h2>

Since these lines are not there and the H2 that is included in the Phplugins thing that you suggested is showing I can only conclude that the field  . ALBUMTITLE . has no value so nothing is shown. That makes sense ofcourse since there is no album on top of this level. I tried adding a line like 'if albumtitle is empty then fill 'Pictures of a big world' but did not manage the syntax. Have to do some more reading....

#122 Re: CE4 Gallery » Headers in Mobile versions » 2015-11-14 07:16:47

The issue was about the album name in the heading. But what I was wondering about in my previous post is why the old graphic identity plate was stil there..  I do not really get it, but somehow the identityplate also changed now that I added mobile !! Thanks a lot !!

Phplugins has been activated from the start and  uploaded from the first time. I always export and upload load up the entire template directory.  So when I changed the phplugins file like you suggested it worked right away. Maybe i'd better start exporting new directories and delete the ld ones first on export....

#123 Re: CE4 Gallery » Headers in Mobile versions » 2015-11-14 05:02:00

targeting for what? I changed character sizes, the graphic identity plate and its role in the LR template editor. I can see how to target mobile galleries for the change in the phplugins. But not how to make mobile change the roll of the identity plate (e.g).. And the identity plate itself ?

I tried saving the template with the new identity plate and the classic thumbnails. Then changing the thumbnails back to masonry. But the identy plate does not change at all..

#124 Re: CE4 Gallery » Header » 2015-11-14 04:48:44

And I tried you suggestion But it did not work (syntax I guess, I do not know enough I guess. Could I exclude  G_PATH=galleries somehow ?

I tried

    if (G_STYLE == 'CE4-GALLERY' || G_STYLE == 'CE4-AUTOINDEX')
{
        echo '
            <div id="masthead" class="block-id masthead clearfix">
                <div class="mantle clearfix">
                    <div class="core clearfix">
                <div id="profile-image" class="profile-image clearfix">
                <div id="profile-icon" class="profile-icon clearfix">
                <a href="/"><img alt="Pictures.theomolenaar.nl - A visual blog" src="/galleries/lib/images/identityplate.png" width="402" height="90" /></a>
                </div>
                <div id="profile-labels" class="profile-labels clearfix">

                if (G_PATH == 'galleries' || G_PATH == 'albums'){

                                  <h1><span><a href="#">Pictures of a big world</a></span></h1>
                        <h2><span>A visual travel blog</span></h2
                else

                                 <h1><span><a href="#">' . ALBUMTITLE . '</a></span></h1>
                        <h2><span>A visual travel blog</span></h2>
                }

                </div>
                </div><!-- #profile-image -->
                    </div>
                </div>
            </div> <!-- #masthead -->
            ';
            return false;  // replaces normal mastead for CE4 Gallery pages
    }
    return true;  //Pages not CE4-Gallery use normal masthead

#125 Re: CE4 Gallery » Header » 2015-11-14 04:19:31

I had already done that and the autoindexes work fine.

if (G_STYLE == 'CE4-GALLERY' || G_STYLE == 'CE4-AUTOINDEX')

Only not on the galleries page. I tried to fill the proper headline in the autoindex.xml like I saw in the other directories

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<album>
    <access>unlocked</access>
    <thumbnail></thumbnail>
    <title>Pictures of a big world</title>
    <description></description>
    <url></url>
</album>

That did not do anything.
