#26 Backlight Support » Thumbnails and Album Sets » 2016-10-27 05:51:34

Im having some difficulty getting the thumbnails associated with the album sets on my home page to appear satisfactorily.  Note the heading for the 3rd form the left, text is truncated.  Should read "Special Olympics Hawaii - Terminators".  In the first thumbnail (one with an actual image) the image is covering the text heading.

How do you:
1) control the size of the thumbnail image and its location with in the cell
2) control the text location with in the cell
3) control the size and shape of the cell

Thanks

A bit of trial and error and got it.  Here is what worked.  Im sure obvious to you
<img class="alignleft" src="http://www.markandmichellegallery.com/backlight/custom/images/DSC02013.jpg" />

Thanks

Below is the line of code I used for the path to the file I FTPd into Backlight, the new images folder
<img class="alignleft" src="path/to/http://www.markandmichellegallery.com/backlight/custom/images/DSC02013.jpg" />

This is the link to the image which was uploaded via Designer templates
http://www.markandmichellegallery.com/b … image&p1=1

And this is the code with the above URL pasted in.  Neither of these options worked.  Getting the same little "?"
<img class="alignleft" src="path/to/http://www.markandmichellegallery.com/backlight/designer/?c=page&a=image&p1=1" />

#29 Re: Backlight Support » Single image for a home page background » 2016-10-25 17:35:27

That is essentially what I want to do.  I copy and pasted the line of code you provided above to the page content.  (Admittedly I'm not familiar with using text editors such as Markdown or HTML, so not sure if Copy and pasting will work.  I do have "Text Wrangler" installed.)  I replaced the file name, "DSC02013", of the image for "image.jpg" in the code above as that seems to make sense.  As you can see from the site, al that was added was a little "?" in a blue box.

Also, I uploaded the image using Designer=>Image uploads.  All seemed to go fine and can see the image on Backlight, but could not locate the image anywhere on the server host.  I FTP the image into the folder you suggested.  Still no luck though.

Im up in Backlight but can't figure out how to upload a single image to use as background for my home page

You can see the large white space below my "Welcome" and "Aloha....".  I would like to have a single image occupy the majority of this space.  Ideas?  Thanks

All removed via FTB.  Up and running on backlight!  Thanks All!!

#32 Re: General » Publishing Service corrupted or moved » 2016-10-22 08:13:09

Ben, Thanks.  In lieu of FTP, could I not simply delete those files and albums on Blue Host using the File Manager tool under cPanel?  All the files in a question would be located in the public_html folder, correct?  Thanks

After reinstalling the publish service plugin, none of the album/album sets appeared in the Lightroom Publish services section.  It was like I started from scratch.  How do you "force remove the galleries"?  Thanks!

#34 Re: General » Publishing Service corrupted or moved » 2016-10-21 17:12:53

Also, I tried going on the server, Bluehost, to remove a photo from an album on the gallery using the file manager to find and delete the photo in question.  I deleted the photo from the photos folder and thumbnail folders but when you go tot the album there is still a "placeholder" where the photo was.  See attached link; deleted folder is _MSM9927.  http://www.markandmichellegallery.com/g … -sep-2016/
I am obviously missing something but have no idea where it is.

Yes Im working from the same catalog and albums as previously.  Also this is CE4.  I am looking to shift to Backlight, but want to ensure all is on order before I do.  My site is not that big, so to start from scratch is not that big of a deal to me.  Just need to know how to do that best.

My publish service on LR got corrupted.  I reinstalled the plugin and am able to upload photos to my website, but I can't manage existing albums and album sets.  Is there an easy fix for this.

Also, I have no issue with removing all existing galleries and albums and starting over.  Is there an easy way to do this?  Thanks

I tried uploading a video to my site, markandmichellegallery.com, hosted by bluehost, but it would not upload.  I tried a couple of different methods but either got one of the following error messages on lightroom:

"This publish service does not support video.  The video file was not added to the collection"

or

"Can’t update this collection.  The rendition could not be created.  Please ensure the original file name is accessible, especially when stored on external or network storage."

That's interesting.  I was not aware of that capability/functionality.  So even if using Shared Resources, things changed in Color Palette or Appearance for Block and Grid styling may not be picked up?  Probably safe to say if you want your website to appear consistent through out, it would be a good practice to make the same changes in all 3 templates and upload, at least until you get more familiar with the way things work.  Using the shortcut of sharing (hacking) templates would be useful here.  Thanks

Thanks, most helpful...and easy...

WRT 4.  If I make a changes to pages template, do I also need to make the corresponding change to Gallery and Auto Index templates?  Thanks again

I am now up and running after installing the Publisher bundle and posting galleries via LR publish services.  But now I have a few questions:
1) How do you delete photos from published galleries/albums?
2) How do you delete entire galleries/albums?
3) How do you replace an existing photo with an updated version?
4) If I make a change to a template, say the galleries template to change the appearance in some fashion, do I simply export and FTP the revised template to my server (same location as the older version)?  Will the new version simply overwrite the old? or is there more to it than that?
Thanks

#41 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-05-01 08:56:18

I am using and have installed the web publishing bundle, still just getting started.  After reviewing all the instructions and the ~20 minute video, its still not clear me why I need or the difference between CE4 Auto Index and say the Auto Index control panel that is installed with CE4 Pages.  What is the difference?  What is the advantage of one over the other?  Do I need both?  Thanks

#42 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-04-26 00:48:56

Thanks Rod.  That fixed it.  Guess I was a little careless

#43 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-04-25 04:53:19

That's what I thought I did, as I saw nothing above the styleData = {.  But will need to check later.  In any case, im guessing the best way to fix this issue would be to delete/uninstall the CE4 gallery plugin and reinstall?

#44 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-04-25 01:36:37

Thanks all.  Using cyber duck and working fine.  New issue.  Using the instructions for "sharing templates between CE4 plugins" I copied, using Text Wrangler, the contents of me CE4 Pages plugin to CE4 Gallery Plugin.  When complete they both had the same name as seen in the Template browser, " TTG Website 1 - CE4 Pages".  I renamed the target back to "TTG Website 1 - CE4 Gallery".
When I click on the TTG Website 1 - CE4 Gallery template, the CE4 Pages layout style loads and the template browser shifts back to TTG Website 1 - CE4 Pages.  I then need to click on the TTG Website 1 - CE4 Gallery template again to "apparently reload that template but the CE4 Pages plugin is still highlighted on the layout style menu.  So not sure which template/layout style is active.

Thanks guys.  I think I know enough now to be dangerous.

#46 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-04-10 10:07:28

OK, stupid question.  Why do I need a text editor?  What does it do?

#47 Re: General » New install questions » 2015-04-10 01:17:03

Thanks so much.  I do have an FTP account with Bluehost.  So do I need something like Coda installed on my MAC as well?  I note a FTP configuration file "cyberduck" I could use from the Bluehost site

Trying to build a website but not having much luck.  Looking to try TTG products - the Web publishing bundle.  I have reviewed the install instructions and your latest video tutorial, "CE4 Install & Setup How to Video", but still have a few questions.  FYI I use a MAC, have lightroom 5 installed and use Blue host.

1) In the TTG BE Installation Set Up Instruction it states: "First, copy the /ttg-be folder from the TTG-BE zip into the top-level of your website online. It should be accessible at http://yourdomain.com/ttg-be."  Using Blue Host tools I need to know exactly what I'm suppose to do here.  What exactly is "top-level of your website"?  The site I'm working on is: markandmichellegallery.com

2) Towards the beginning of the CE4 Install & Setup How to Video, you mention how you are starting with a clean slate - nothing on the server, so should I delete all I have started previously?  Also, I notice you use "Coda".  What is it?  Do I need it?  Don't want to buy anything more than I need.  How does that portion of the tutorial translate to using Blue Host?

That's about it for now.  If I can get some relatively easy to follow instructions addressing 1 & 2 above I'll most like give TTG a shot.  Thanks
Mark
