Or, isn't there an option in the preferences to store some things with the catalog? If you toggled that, that might be the problem.
Backlight will never upscale images to larger than 100% their actual size.
Well, Adobe, that's lovely. Glad to hear that's happening. I was unaware. =/
I can see where to export the main template. But, it saves a s atext image. Wordpress needs a zip file to import. Is there an easy process to mirror my main template on my wordpress blog page?
I read this the other day, and it didn't click with me what was going on. In my defense, I've been sick all week, and my head's not been functioning to full capacity.
Reading it now with a clearer head, I think what's happening here is a disconnect between expectation and functionality.
Exporting and getting a TXT file, I believe you're exporting the Backlight template, which is simply a record of your designer settings. That's for backing up or transporting your Backlight templates. That's the "Export Template" button.
To export the theme for use in Wordpress, use the "Export Theme to Wordpress" button, and that will create the folder and assets in the /wp-content/themes folder of your Wordpress site, the URL for which you've provided in Backlight's settings.
I hope that clears things up.
Thanks, guys! We really appreciate it.
And many thanks to Rod and Daniel for being such prominent, guiding forces here on the forum.
Backlight's WP theme does not support Markdown. Our approach to Wordpress is to keep things as vanilla as possible to minimize potential conflicts, and you can then add functionality using Wordpress plugins. There are plugins available that should allow you to use Markdown in the Wordpress editor.

Well, this tells me the code is sound and that the problem is a bug in Chrome, or perhaps in the underlying OS. I'm hoping that when I upgrade Fancybox to the latest, we might get a fix for free. Else, I'll need to see whether there's a workaround we can implement. Whether this will be fixable in the application, though, is anyone's guess.
I unearthed the very crummy Android phone that I have, and tried out your site on Chrome. The cart worked perfectly. Then I upgraded to the most recent version of Chrome, and I see the same problem you're having. =/
Or did you move the watermark files, or the folder that contained them?
Off the top of my head, no idea. And I personally use an iPhone, so haven't had this issue. I will look into it, though. High on my to-do list is to upgrade to a newer version of Fancybox, though, as we've fallen a few updates behind. If we're very lucky, that will fix it for us.
I fear there's nothing we can do about it, in that case. Sounds like a failing of Samsung's browser. Chrome is supposed to be the default for Android devices.
According to Wikipedia, Samsung's browser is still in development:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_I … or_Android
I'd make sure you're using the latest version, and if it's still a problem therein, see if there's some way you can report the bug to them.
Rainer, Backlight 2 supports multiple languages in a single site. So you do not need three sites for different languages.
Daniel has linked to docs above, and provided some explanation, so I don't think I need to reiterate what he's explained. I suggest you try the built-in language support, and see whether it suits your needs.
Using which browser? And have you tried other browsers?
Slim pickings, I fear. Most of my brain has gone walkabout and not returned.
I used to use Coda and loved it, but it's not been kept up with and I've been forced to abandon it. Atom is fair, and I use it once in a while for specific tasks, but Visual Studio Code is my workhorse. I occasionally use Sublime Text as well.
Yes.
If you'd like a proper code editor, Visual Studio Code is what I (and most of the larger coding world, apparently) have been using lately. It's probably more than you need, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good option for you, and it's entirely free. Get it here:

Bear in mind that most current-era laptops are now using High-DPI displays. Apple's "Retina" displays, for example, as 2x resolution. So if you want to display an image clearly at 250px, then you need a 500px image. Most phones are 2x, 3x or higher. I haven't seen a 4x display, but I have seen 3x with decimals ...
As a general guideline, I try to publish images 1.5x to 2x the size I intend to display them.
I hadn't realized 5.0 was released. I'll add checking it out to my to-do list and get back to you with impressions when I've had time to form them.
Are you finding any issues specific to using the new editor with the Backlight 2 Theme?
You might want to look at the packages feature? Doesn't do exactly what you describe -- as Rod says -- but you could perhaps use it to create to combination print/file type product.
It's a background image, so try using the CSS background-size property. Depending on the size of your image and your desired effect, the value of that property will vary, so Google it to see the valid options.
Sorry about the misinformation! We'd been talking about it recently, and I thought it had already been posted. A miscommunication on my part.
Hi Mark,
I believe Ben posted an unannounced update recently that allows assets to live in the "home" location. Though it's not our suggested way of doing things -- we advise putting assets into the backlight/custom folder, for example -- we understand that some users, such as yourself, may have reasons for having assets at root.
The .htaccess is something that Backlight's updater can update, so you'll need to download the ZIP file again using the link emailed to you at time of purchase, then manually copy the updated file to your site.
Never mind. I see this happening when designing a layout based on landscape-oriented images, then having a portrait-orientation image show up as thumbnail. My laptop is away for service at the moment, but I'll take a look at this when I get back to work on things. In the meantime, set landscape-orientation thumbnails for your albums.
I'm having no such issue trying to replicate your layout. Text always displays to the immediate right of the thumbnail, regardless of size. Perhaps try adjusting the Thumbnail Max-width slider, or the size of your thumbnails?
