Thanks again for the quick reply. Hopefully I will get some time to try it out soon.

Matthew,

Thanks for the succinct reply. I have a lot of pages in my Rapid Weaver site and need to add lots of new pages on occasion, (exhibition announcements, new books, etc), but will consider your ideas and take a more detailed look at Backlight and Pages.

And you are saying that </backlight> would be the top folder and the Rapid Weaver pages would go within that.?

Note: currently everything is in a folder on Blue host under <public_html/edo>

Hello

I currently use CE3 Gallery, CE 3 STAGE, Galleria, and Auto Index to make my simple galleries. I upload the galleries manually through FTP. The gallery Top index page is an "off-site" page referenced from my total website which is made and maintained using Rapid Weaver web design software for Mac. I have the gallery looking almost identical to the Rapid Weaver pages.

site made with Rapid Weaver

My question is, is it possible to use Backlight in a similar fashion, that is integrate it with my Rapid Weaver site. And how much work is it going to be to do it smile

My site is hosted by Bluehost, so that part should be easy.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

#4 Re: General » Embedding CE3 Gallery in Wordpress Page » 2013-05-06 22:21:07

Thanks Matthew.

Well I just gave it a quick read. It is certainly MORE than enough generous support. I was surprised to see I had already read it and commented as well. Since then I have gotten to know PHP, CSS, etc better, and yes I have been aware that iframes are NOT good.

Last years, I took the easy route and used Stage instead, got it to look pretty close to my own site

Will those instructions work with CE 3? Or is that another ball game?

Hi Matthew et al.

Is it not possible to embed a CE3 gallery and Auto Index into the "content" area of a website (made with Rapid Weaver NOT Wordpress)?

I was thinking of trying this since Stage 3 isn't out yet.

I would like to embed it here

This is made using Stage 2

regarding the Highslide paid plugin - Before I buy it I wonder if it is possible to turn off the "Download" button that appears in the bar at the upper right hand corner. Doesn't look there is a trial version to test customizing it. (I realize its not very expensive, but there were some things about the styles that I don't like on the demo gallery site)

Thank you both for your succinct and quick repiles! Makes it easier to get in the mood to go to work and actually do this..

Apparently these days MANY (most?) photo buyers, art directors, etc are looking for photography works through internet searches. So hope to get more stuff out there.

BTW, the seminar teacher did mention that SEO "it is changing all the time"

Best

Hi all

I recently attended a seminar on SEO and the teacher said that each gallery should have .html address RATHER than just a folder_name/

I am using Auto Index in combination with Stage and at present, your Flash style Simple Viewer - "embedded" in my site and host domain at BlueHost. (still on the fence as to whether to continue with the Flash style or switch to html style galleries - hopefully one that would than would make it less easy for people to download the images.)

Currently the software seems to generate (prefer?) these addresses.

http://www.edophotobiz.com/gallery_index/mind_games1/

question1.
Is this kind of address preventing "perfect" SEO and search Hits?

question 2.
What would your favorite html gallery recommendations be to use within LR4 - customizable ones? I may try adding a cart and possibly redo my older site which is need of an update using PAGES when I get the time.

Question 3. PS sorry another topic...
Is there a documented workflow for using the plugins and uploading them? If I don't do it for awhile it always takes me 2 or 3 tries to get it all to work because I have forgotten or missed a step and have to go back and reupload evertyhing several times to get it right smile

Thanks in advance.
