Thanks, Rod. I'll just delete the contact page and hopefully stop getting all the spam, spam and spam. Sounds like Backlight 2 is in the future.
Although "Hot women for good sex every day" sounds great, 15 invitations every day is a bit too much. Not enough energy left for photography of the great outdoors.
Greetings and Happy New Year.
My contact page is beginning to act like a Monty Python skit... "Spam, spam, spam, spam..."
Until I have time to add captcha or something, should I delete the contact page on Backlight 1.2.3 then later rebuild it? Is it easy to rebuild?
Should I delete my contact email instead and leave the contact page?
How would I go about adding Captcha? Is there a link you can point me to?
I use my website for friends and family and don't usually get responses through the contact page.
Thanks for any suggestions that you might send my way.
Jim
Thanks Ben!
Oops,
I published an album from Lightroom to my site. Went to work and viewed the album from a different computer. Oops! I put some photos up that would have been not appreciated by the viewer. So, I logged into the server and deleted the album from coyotepixel/galleries/ instead of waiting until I arrived home to delete them from Lightroom Publisher.
The photos are gone from my site. But when I deleted the album from Lightroom the Album name and blue line are still on the Gallery Page of my site. The album doesn't show anywhere in Lightroom.
How do I remove the Album name from Galleries page?
Thanks,
jim
Well, I did uncheck all in the Publisher Settings and that seemed to work in getting the photo size to change.
Thanks!
Time to Pangolin all the albums.
I'll give it a try tonight, Rod, and let you know.
Jim
It's as if the Photo size slider isn't working.
I have tried all those things... clear template, mark for republish, etc. Everything else works... thumbnail size change, presentation type change, etc.
Except that when I change Image Settings/Photo Size settings nothing changes on my site. I can change to larger or smaller photo size, save changes, clear template cache, assign template to album, mark for publish, publish and no change to single image size on website.
Were there some changes to Okapi page settings in one of the last updates that might have affected this? Or, am I missing some other setting?
That seemed to do it, Rod, for the thumbnails. I did not have "Push Metadata..." checked but didn't have "Publish Thumbnails..." checked.
But when I go full screen on the single image, I can't get the larger image that I like on desktop.

I have changed the single image size in Backlight login. Album Settings/Image settings/Photos. 2048px. No change to single image size.
Is there another box that I need to check in Publisher edit?
Thanks.
jim
Ok, I'm a bit slow with implementing the Pangolin changes to my many albums.
Recently, since the last update, I tried to use an older Okapi template that I liked but noticed that my template had changed (I think) with the update.
I had once created large thumbnails as well as photos that appeared large in the single image page, full screen. But when I created a new album with what I thought was my old template, I can't seem to get back to the older larger thumbnail and single image sizes.
I noticed that on a mac laptop the single images of the older and newer templates were the same. But on my Mac desktop, the single image in full screen is smaller with the newer album template. I've tried to change the size of the single images, but to no avail.
Older album thumbnail page: http://coyotepixel.net/galleries/coast-12-16/
Latest album thumbnail page: http://coyotepixel.net/galleries/swale-canyon/
I also notice that on the galleries page, the thumbnails for a few albums are smaller than the older previous template albums. Whatever I do to increase the thumbnail sizes and single image size for the Okapi template, which I really like, has no effect.
Of course, I didn't write down the settings for the older Okapi album template so I don't know if I am missing something.
I'd like to recreate the larger thumbnails and single images in full screen mode. I'm working off of my 24 inch desktop. Does that make a difference?
I seem to be missing something.... The space between thumbnails is larger. How do I change that and will it make a difference in thumbnail sizes?
jim
Thanks, all. It may take me a week to get to it, but I'll let you know how it went!

I have been uploading photos to my brother's website from my computer. I have all his photos on an external hard drive linked to my Lightroom. He wants to take over managing his site so I have to migrate everything over to his computer and Lightroom.
I suppose there is no easy way to do this. Can anyone list the steps necessary for this migration or will I have to start over from scratch?
Thanks,
jim
You are right, Matthew. Thanks!
Updating now.
jim
Greetings.
I uploaded 300 photos of a recent vacation. The thumbnails look great but when I click on any of them to enlarge, the contrast changes in the image and the larger image is more washed out. On Safari, the image changes after about 1/2 second.
None of my other albums do this.
Any ideas?

Thanks much!

Charlie,
I did change the color of the button to white. It made a big difference. Thanks.
jim
Got it to work! Back button at the bottom of the page.
http://coyotepixel.net/galleries/favori … favorites/
I got a copy of the sample php from backlight/custom/phplugins, deleted everything inside of the box "set user functions below", inserted your function for back button, renamed it back-button.php, uploaded it into backlight/custom/phplugins, logged into my backlight settings, went to design template for my standard backlight page, Advanced Customization, Enabled phplugins, and included the back-button.php.
I may remove the blue button and just have the text. Easier to see. Thanks, Rod. My first attempt at php worked, thanks to your help.
PS, there was still 12 inches of snow last weekend in the Columbia River gorge.
Many Thanks!
Will let you know what happens. Going for a hike in the Columbia River gorge in a few minutes

Ok.
My train of thought on this was:
I want a "back" navigation button at the bottom of my thumbnails. I know that I must create a .php script with that function and insert it into backlight/custom/phplugins folder as per the instructions on the "using_phplugins" page on Turninggate/Backlight:
Enabling PHPlugins
To use PHPlugins, create or edit an existing PHP file in /backlight/custom/phplugins.
In Backlight's Designer, edit the desired Page Template. Scroll down and set:
Advanced Customization ⇒ PHPlugins ⇒ Enabled : On
Advanced Customization ⇒ PHPlugins ⇒ Include File : file-name.php
Any page, album or album set utilizing that template will run functions from the specified script file.
I don't know how to create a new PHP script file, so I looked at the .php scripts already in backlight/custom/phplugins and found path.php.
I downloaded a copy and left the original path.php as it was in it's folder. I deleted the duplicates script and inserted yours and thought I should rename the new .php something like: back-button.php
I was going to insert the new back-button.php with your function for the 'back' button into backlight/custom/phplugins and assign that script through the Advanced Customization.
What you are suggesting is to go to the sample-phplugins.php and insert your function into the area designated for that, probably deleting the samples within. I've found that .php and see the area. You mention that there are other bits within that .php which are necessary.
If I do that, then I should assign that sample-phplugins.php to my Page where I want the back-button using the Advanced Customization?
Does that make the sample-phplugins.php unavailable for other uses? Should I rename it to something else?
I hope I got all the terms right in my effort to explain/understand/learn.
Thanks,
Jim
Glad I asked! I'll start over.
Rod,
I'm gonna give a try to doing my first phplugin for my thumbnail pages. Let me know if this is right.
I've gone to backlight/custom/phplugins and found path.php. I downloaded a copy of it to my computer, deleted the contents through textedit and copied the function script that you gave me near the top of this post.
I then rename the phplugin to something other than path.php. I should upload this new script to backlight/custom/phplugins and then go through the Advanced Customization steps for phplugins for my thumbnail pages. This should give me a button below the thumbnails.
Does this sound right and will it work? Is there some name I should give to this script or does it matter?
Jim
Thanks, Rod! I'll give it a try. It'll be my first phplugin effort.

Greetings.
Many of my thumbnail pages for Albums have over 150 thumbnails. Is there anyway to put a navigation line a the bottom of the thumbnails so that visitors can go back a page to either Gallery or Album Set instead of having to scroll back to the top? This would be in addition to the navigation line at the top of the thumbnails.
Thanks. I'm not good at coding, etc. Maybe there is a simple way to do this? Or, could you provide an example of the coding, etc?
jim
Greetings.
I've noticed that when I select an Album Set in Publisher that the Publish button is lit as if something needs to be updated or published. If I select each of the albums in the Set, none of them need to be updated and the Publish button is not lit for any of them. If I press Publish on the Album Set, the progress bar is shown and something is happening but I don't know what. The Publish button continues to stay active and lit up.
Probably not a big deal, just wondering.
I love working with Backlight!
jim
Perfect! Thanks, Ben.
I've recently edited 3 out of 37 photos in an album through Lightroom>Photo>Edit In>Photoshop. The photos were relabeled by Lightroom such as: _JM2007.NEF to _JM2007-Edit.tif. I published the changes and now they are out of order on my site. The 3 that I edited in Lightroom>Photo>Edit In>Photoshop are at the end of the album.
They appear in order in Grid mode in the Publisher Album. I've got the Sort Order set as Capture Time. I looked at the order on my host site album folder via File Manager. The photos are in order and labeled as jpeg's, which I assume is how Backlight uploads them. I have checked both Push Metadata w/o... option and Publish Thumbnails w/o... option at different tries but to no avail.
I've refreshed the browser, cleared browser history, waited a while for the site to update. No change.

Is there something I should do differently? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
jim
