#1 Re: CE4 Gallery » Vertical images get cropped » 2017-02-02 06:28:27

It's the large images that are getting cropped. They look fine in the opening gallery.
Here's a link that shows you what I am referring to: www.mcbridephotographics.com/sanfranciscogallery1/.

I just figured out that the menus on the top and bottom are what's blocking out part of the image in both the horizontals and the verticals. By clicking on the image the menus disappear. But then sometimes the slide show stops responding too.

I must have something set wrong?

The vertical images in some of my CE4 galleries get cropped, but not in all of them. Obviously I must be missing a switch in the setup process, but which one and where is it? FYI the vertical images are 768px high which works O.K. sometimes Should they be downsized?
Thanks for any suggestions.

#3 Re: CE4 Gallery » PHP Mobile Galleries » 2014-11-11 14:25:48

Greetings to all,

Nothing has changed from my Oct. 18 post. I tried all three mobile options under the "Settings for Large Image Presentation" and none of them worked. (As an aside I wonder what the differences are supposed to be?) The settings re: Social Media are all turned off.

I have also upgraded from Gallery 6.1.0 to Gallery 6.1.2, and I still can't get my mobile gallery to open. I keep getting a message that says: "Internal Server Error Message. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact server administrater etc. etc. they are supposed to dseveral different.

To repeat: my CE3 gallery pages that are in HTML all still work fine. The one gallery that I have converted to CE4 (and PHP), and added the Cart to, also works fine on my desktop. It's just the mobile version that won't work. (see www.mcbridephotographics.com/ferrarigallery1.html).

Do I need to reset some PHP settings on my web server? And if so what ones?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rod,
I am only using CE4 Gallery and CE4 Cart on my site. I had an existing Dreamweaver site and am using the TTG products to augment it. As for "shared resources" I don't think I am using any. Social Media sharing is not enabled.

When I enabled plug-ins, I did NOT put in a Server Path to the Plugins. Could that be the issue?

Finally I did reload the entire gallery, including the mobile.php file, but only after I deleted the previous version of the gallery from my server.  It works fine on my desktop, but not on my tablet.

Thanks for your insights.

When I switched on PHP to utilize the Cart the mobile gallery stopped working (www.mcbridephotographics.com/ferrarigallery1/.

I get an "Internal Server Error" message from my Samsung Notepad now. The other CE3 gallery page that are in HTML all still work fine. And the one gallery that I have converted to CE4 also works fine on my desktop. It's just the mobile version that stopped working.

Could someone please tell me what's wrong?  Thanks.

#6 Re: CE4 Cart » PayPal Error Msg. » 2014-09-21 12:55:30

Ben

I did another purchase through my website on PayPal. I used my wife's computer and charged the image to it via PayPal. The results were the same as last time.

After the purchase went through I was taken back to the screen that I saved as CART.html attached. The address on the page was:

...cart/?c=paypal_review&token=EC-8JN256130F569572K&PaymentID=RJFUTBEAMQ3J4

There was a block of new text inserted into my cart which read as follows:

"You're almost there! Review your selections below and click 'Pay Now" to complete this order. ("click", "Pay Now"
and "to complete" all had hot links to the following sites: "my mapdirection.com", "wardbound.com", and "ArcadeCandy:GoBackToCollegeNow".  And further down the page under the heading of Product: Photography there is another hot link leading to "AmazonAWS.com".

Last time I hit "Pay Now" and the sale was rejected, so this time I just hit "Cancel"  and the sale went through anyway.

This appears to me as though PayPal is high-jacking my Cart and selling links to it.

I downloaded the HTML copy from this "Review" page. Tell me how to send it to you.

Thanks,

JackMcB

#7 Re: CE4 Cart » PayPal Error Msg. » 2014-09-21 05:07:52

After the PayPal sale went through I was taken back to my Cart for a final review and approval, with instructions to hit the pay now button again. When I did that I got a page of PHP code starting with "fsockopen()php-network" etc. And PayPal rejected this as a second purchase.
This "Final Review" page included a line of text at the top of the page with links to an advertising message from "Coupons.com". How did that get into my cart? I am not using any coupons, either mine or some third party's so who inserted those links?

How do I get rid of this second review page and those unwanted advertising links?

#8 Re: CE4 Cart » PayPal Error Msg. » 2014-09-19 13:19:51

Thanks Rod,
Where are the PHP Plugins?
I can use Dreamweaver to do text editing, if I know where to look.
But I can't find the Cart text.

#9 Re: CE4 Cart » PayPal Error Msg. » 2014-09-19 03:00:03

Thanks Ben,

I copied and pasted the API Signature data, because the "Signature" contains characters that could either be an upper case "i" or a lower case "L" which both look the same on the screen, and that solved the connection and sale problem.

The PayPal Tech Support person wouldn't address this possibility, instead she said I had to buy a $30/month Professional Subscription if I wanted my cart to work. The PayPal Tech Reps probably get a bonus for needlessly up-selling customers.

After the PayPal sale went through I was taken back to my Cart for a final review and approval, with instructions to hit the pay now button again. When I did that I got a page of PHP code starting with "fsockopen()php-network" etc. And PayPal rejected this as a second purchase.

And finally this Final Review page included an advertising message from "Coupons.com" at the top of the page. Who authorized that?

So it all sort of works now, but not without some glitches and confusion.

And finally is there some place where copy can be inserted that tells customers that they can use any credit card to make a PayPal purchase. The PayPal screen minimizes this option for buyers.

Thanks,
JackMcB

I tried to make a real purchase from my gallery and received a "PayPal problem processing request" msg.
Detailed Error Msg.    Security Header
Short Error Msg.      Security Error
Error Code               10002

Is this something I have to go to PayPal to resolve or have you seen this before?

According to the documentation there is a "Cart Diagnostics" under the Admin settings menu. I can't find it on CE4 cart.
Would someone please provide a more specific path?

#13 Re: CE4 Cart » Gallery to Cart » 2014-09-17 07:28:48

My thanks to Rod Barbee for the " TTG Tips and Tricks" download that he prepared (see link above).
By putting menus and choices together the "Scheme" it all becomes more obvious.

Currently I have four choices in a drop-down format. Now I just have to get over the purchase/payment hurdle.

Somebody should write a "TTG for Dummies" book!

#14 Re: CE4 Cart » Gallery to Cart » 2014-09-13 11:39:41

I have input four different print sizes and prices on one screen and two on another in the Cart. What matters and what doesn't? This program was created for software developers/sellers and then sort of poorly adapted for photographers.

It's telling that Terry White doesn't use Cart, because he know's better!

#15 Re: CE4 Cart » Gallery to Cart » 2014-09-13 09:06:05

Removing the quotes did the trick. I still only see one choice in the cart. So now I'll have to figure out how to offer more than one option. At least I can see the cart.

This is not a very user-friendly program.

#16 Re: CE4 Cart » Gallery to Cart » 2014-09-13 07:09:39

I turned on the PHP option in my test gallery (www.mcbridephotographics/ferrarigallery1), but I did not put in a path to the PHP plugin files. Is that necessary too?

I am still getting the same error message as before:"No products are available for purchase".

Kristen Westlake's gallery and cart could work for me, providing that I can ever figure out how to configure the drop-down menus.

Re the TTG Community sites: Daniel Leu, has no cart, Terry White's cart is some other third party's, and Mark Hoffman's is too simplistic (one item). At that point I quit looking.

Thanks again for any assistance.

#17 Re: CE4 Cart » Gallery to Cart » 2014-09-13 04:46:33

Rod,
I did what you suggested and I am still getting the "No product available for purchase" message on:
www.mcbridephotographics.com/ferrarigallery1. I also put some more info into the second pricing scheme, so there should be two available in the cart now.

Should the Php setting me turned on in my gallery? It's not since I have no interest learning PHP if I don't have to.
FYI the Admin on my cart is still the default.

Are there any web sites that you know of where commercials photographers have used the TTG Cart to sell prints in different sizes at variable prices? I'd like to see what the potential is for something other than software that's digitally downloaded.

Thanks for you help.

When I try to make a purchase from my test gallery (www.mcbridephotographics.com/ferrarigallery1) I get a message that says "None of these images are for sale". I can see the empty cart page, but I can't see any information in it.

Plus the cart configuration forms certainly weren't designed to sell photography. Is there any photography cart page online that I can look at to see how different size prints and options have been artfully combined using the TTG Cart.

Thanks for any assistance. The whole Cart program and documentation is very confusing to me.

#19 Re: CE4 Gallery » CE4 Gallery Navigation Links » 2014-08-05 14:23:58

Yeah, you're right! Now all of a sudden it works.
But I swear it was inserting the name of the current page into the link before.
It must have been in a cache from a previous version of the page somewhere.

Thanks for your prompt response.

When I use the same code that I used in my CE3 Galleries for Navigation Links in CE4, I get different results. CE4 inserts the name of the gallery page file into any link that doesn't point to index.html. See: www.mcbridephotographics.com/ferrarigallery1/. I am not using PHP.

#21 Re: General » Android 4.2.2 » 2014-01-23 07:43:07

Perhaps it was not an "Upgrade" but merely a "Bug Fix". It came from Samsung automatically and it changed the behavior of my tablet.

My mobile web galleries all stopped working yesterday after I loaded an upgrade to Android 4.2.2 onto my Samsung tablet. The galleries show up but there is no interactivity. They work fine on my desktop.

Is there an upgrade or workaround for this. I use Dreamweaver too so I fix code or load new code into my web gallery pages. See: www.mcbridephotographics.com/bigsurgallery1 .

Thanks for assistance.

Questions & Comments

1. I have a TTG gallery template that I am happy with, but I can't save it so I can easily recreate it with other images and a new name.  But what's even more frustrating is that I can't move new files from my LR catalog into that existing web gallery.

2. What is the ideal/optimum pixel dimensions, width x height, for JPEGs in TTG galleries, recognizing that there must be some compromises to cover all the mobile devices? Historically I have used 640 pixels as the defining limit for either width or height at 72ppi. But it makes my images look small on large screens. Can I safely use a larger size?

3. I moved the Navigation Bar from the top to the bottom of the page in your Gallery module using hand-coding in Dreamweaver. I have a Dreamweaver produced home page (www.mcbridephotographics.com) and my galleries are all subordinate to that, so I want a menu bar on the bottom, not the top. You should make that a "clickable menu" option for all your users who can't hand-code.

For the record the reason I purchased the TTG package was to get around Flash for mobile devices. Otherwise I was satisfied with the PVII Slide Show Magic Gallery Plug-In that I have been using for the last five years.

#24 Re: Announcements & Information » Preview Galleries in Lightroom 5.3 » 2013-12-20 07:34:01

I turned off the PHP setting in the TTG Gallery menu and that solved both problems, now I can preview the gallery in Lightroom and it shows up on my web page too.
www.mcbridephotographics.com/sanfranciscoTTG1 .

The gallery still needs visual work but it's functional at least and it's not "Flash" based.
Apparently my server settings prefer html pages.

Thanks for your help.

#25 Re: Announcements & Information » Preview Galleries in Lightroom 5.3 » 2013-12-19 15:03:02

I am using the TTG Gallery plug-ins. And in the 5.2 version of Lightroom I could click on web preview and it would take me to my web server, no questions asked.

FYI I use Dreamweaver as my FTP program and it seems to have problems uploading your PHP files. I get a small x next to the file in my web directory, suggesting that there is something missing, plus the files won't open on my site.
