Here is the start of my layout.

https://whatwant.ca/photog/zoo/

The descriptive text under each thumbnail is cut off and has no padding. How do I change the Thumbnails - caption area, font size and padding?

How do I change the font size of the breadcrumb links?

Typography doesn't include font size - only font style and bold. Why does Navigation have font size but there is no font size in Content Areas?

In Footer, I removed 2016 Copyright Start Date but it's still there.

Thanks

#3 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-21 00:57:11

Thanks Rod. Finally figured out where the lorem ipsum is with your album template explanation.  The page lorem ipsum is in Album Settings which is confusing since it's not in Pages. The confusion is that your Pages are interface pages where as Lightroom's pages are actually Albums and Album Sets.

Thanks for your help.

OK thanks I didn't see that before - but where in that template is the lorem ipsum?  It's not in Page Content.

I'll send screen shots.  Can't get the image tag to work.

#7 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-13 00:38:47

The issue is that there is no template for the Album "giraffes" in backlight admin - so I can't edit it. There is one for "Toronto Zoo" but that's my Album Set not the Album "giraffes". And the "Toronto Zoo" template is not the "Toronto Zoo" page, it's the top level page.

#8 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-11 02:46:32

Thanks Rod,

This is my current setup - super simple, I've deleted everything else.

In Lightroom

TG Publisher
Toronto Zoo  - Album Set
     Giraffes - Album

In Backlight Admin Pages it lists:

Toronto Zoo
About
Contact
Home

This is my top level folder - it's using the "Toronto-Zoo" page to display

https://whatwant.ca/photog/

Galleries page has 2 instances of a gallery called "Toronto Zoo" - I've only created one in Lightroom.

https://whatwant.ca/photog/galleries/

Giraffes page - with lorem ipsum - why isn't Giraffes listed in Pages?

https://whatwant.ca/photog/galleries/tz/giraffes/

Thanks for your help.

#9 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-10 03:42:10

OK thanks.  I finally got it working but in a most bizarre way.  I thought I'd start again and delete everything in Publisher and then remove TTG Publisher as well and re-install it to make sure I had the very latest version.  When I clicked on Remove in the Lightroom Publishing Manager it seemed to delete TTG Publisher but then it appeared again, almost as if there were 2 Publishers one on top of the other. Once I tried it again after that it Published my Album Set and Album without any errors.

Weird.

One final question. How can I edit the Lorem Ipsum text on the Album page. I don't see Album pages listed in the admin, only Album Sets.

Thanks
Charles

#10 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-09 02:59:49

OK, so if the Publisher only writes to one top level gallery, do you add more Publishers for each one if you were using it the way you described?  So for myself I might have Publisher set to Galleries, but for a client I would have another Publisher set to Client?

#11 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Containing Album Set error when trying to Publish in Lightroom » 2020-05-07 06:13:23

Just checked again and the "CE4 Publisher" was only in the Publisher Description field, left over from before I guess - it actually is the new TTG Publisher. I did download it and install it a few weeks ago. If I click the Update Albums I get the same error. The Lightroom Publishing Manager lists the TTG Publisher with (not saved) under it even though I've successfully saved the configuration, if that matters.

I have my Backlight installed in a folder called "Photog" - inside that folder there is the "backlight" folders, and a folder called "galleries" and another folder called "photog" which has the "giraffes" generated template in it but no photos. I can see now that the folder named in the publisher is the top level so I could have named a folder galleries and a folder photog when I was trying to get it working.

In Lightroom, I have 4 old Album Sets in the Publisher (from Backlight 1 days) and I have created a new 'Album Set' called 'Zoo' and created 'Album' 'Giraffes' within that.

I'm confused by the term "top level gallery" because the publisher has one field for a "top level galleries directory", but in the Admin page there are options to create multiple Top Level Galleries.  These do not appear to be Album Sets because I don't have an Album Set called Galleries or Photog.

How do I get this to work?  I'm starting again because the old Album Sets are years old and so I don't mind deleting anything or deleting folders on the server but I remember in the past touching folders on the server made everything worse.

Thanks
Charles

Before I upgrade to Backlight 3...

I have an old installation of Publisher (it says CE4 Publisher) in Lightroom. There are some old Album Sets and Albums in there that are left over from Backlight 1 that are no longer live. I installed and configured Backlight 2, created a new Album Set, and a new Album in it and tried to Publish it and I got this error:

"The containing Album Set has not yet been created on the server. Edit the parent Album Set to save it to the server before publishing this Album."

There is only level of Album Set, there is no parent. And on the server there are no Album folders. I know from past experience not to muck around creating anything on the server. How can I correct this?

Thanks

#13 Backlight 2 Support » What is the API URL in Lightroom when Backlight 2 is in a folder? » 2020-04-06 03:41:36

I keep getting errors trying to set the API URL in Lightroom for Backlight 2. I have backlight installed inside a folder called "photog" on my server.  Lightroom at one point alerted me that the URL had to be end in "publisher" so I tried:

xxx.com/photog/backlight/data/publisher

but I still can't connect.  I've tried just ending the string in "backlight" as well but it doesn't work.

My hosting company sent me this warning:

ImunifyAV has detected malware on the following websites:
whatwant.ca Infected 1 file

~~
photog/backlight/data/sessions/sess_7d9t3hhrt6adb5r3vfnp0547vo
~~

I see that the sessions folder and this file is created automatically by Backlight 2. Is there a remedy for this?

#16 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Should I install Backlight 2 in my photos folder on the server » 2019-01-18 01:14:22

The PHP version is 7.2.14 so that shouldn't be the current problem. It looks like I'll have to re-create all of the templates.

In the past t the problem with template creation being so cumbersome was Lightroom's interface. I'm using the old Lightroom 5 but I do have the Adobe license so I can upgrade to the latest version if you recommend it, but I don't need a lot of the social media improvements that I see are the changes. Do you recommend updating Lightroom for Backlight 2 before I start or does Backlight use a different system than those horrible scrolling Lightroom template setups?

#17 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Should I install Backlight 2 in my photos folder on the server » 2019-01-17 10:20:20

Hmm seems the site is already broken... http://whatwant.ca/photog/ - the next set of top level album pages contain a php error.  They contained another set of index pages of years for each of the top level indexes. The ttg-be folder is still there on the root level but I haven't looked at this stuff for quite a long time which is why it's a good idea to do this now.

I'm not too concerned about keeping this site as is. It would be nice to convert it for time, but if I have to republish it I could do that. I might not keep all of it online anyway.

Will I be able to use the old templates in Lightroom that have the content in them? There is currently a template for every year in every category so there are lots of them.

I would like to keep the structure that I have which is:
- top level - photos by category - Kosh, Wildwood etc.
- next level - another index by year
- next level - all the photos and pages for that year

I don't care if I use Pages or Galleries or something else - whatever is the easiest. I don't have a lot of content on the Album pages other than the basic photo info like number and date. But they go back many years so there are hundreds of photos.

This is meant to be a "proofing" platform for people to let me know if they want one of these for posting somewhere or a high resolution copy to use to print. The purpose is not a pretty public website. That's why I put them in a "photog" folder so they aren't easily visible to the world. Whatever is the fastest and easiest system to update each year (Publisher was great for this) is all that matters.

Thanks for your help and advice.

#18 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Should I install Backlight 2 in my photos folder on the server » 2019-01-17 02:19:37

I just found the original email and according to Matt's instructions to me:

Instructions for upgrading from CE4 are here:
http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … acklight_2

This page says, "Unzip the Backlight 2 installer into a CE4 site...."

But I have a folder named "photog" with an autoindex and several "sites" within it. To better understand this, can you tell me, does Backlight 2 replace the ttg-be folder contents? Can I delete ttg-be after conversion? If I install it on the root folder how does it know to link to the "photog" folder contents?

Quick question. I have not used Backlight 1 so this is my first experience with Backlight. I've been using the old CE4 TTG versions.

Some of my uploaded photos from Lightroom are in a folder called "photog" which contains several web pages of photos and an auto index page. On the root level is a "ttg-be" folder. There are other folders of exported CE4 Pages or Galleries which were manually uploaded via ftp and are not connected - so no auto index for these.

And I have other folders on the root level that are unrelated to photo galleries.

The point is, I use this domain for several purposes, it's not just one website as in the demo. So should I install Backlight 2 on the root level or in the "photog" folder or in a new folder? What do you recommend?

Thanks
Charles

Thanks.  Fortunately, all of my templates are based on the same design.  I'll let you know if I have any problems (hopefully I won't).

I'm looking for specific instructions on how to upgrade my CE4 installation to Backlight.  Sorry, but I can't find anything on this.  In particular I have quite a few templates in CE4 Gallery that I'll need to migrate over to Backlight.  The Readme file only contains Backlight updating instructions (from previous versions) and a search for the above only turns turns up a link to a page that says the discount to upgrade from CE4 is no longer available :-)

#22 Re: CE4 Gallery » custom.css - where do I put it to globally affect all galleries » 2016-07-08 00:47:46

Hi Rod,

I'm finally getting back to this.  For anyone else reading this thread, I finally got this to work - but in my case it would only work when I put in the full path with http:

function ttg_head_end( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://xxx.com/phplugins/css/custom.css" />
    ';
}

#23 CE4 Gallery » custom.css - where do I put it to globally affect all galleries » 2016-05-06 05:42:13

All of my galleries use the same design with some minor individual changes.  I want to reduce the size of the cell numbers in all the galleries in ttg-be/templates/gallery/ which I know is this:

.cellnumber {
    font-size:20px !important;
    padding-left:2px !important;
}

I want to have this affect all galleries globally.  I've removed the comments for this and uploaded it to:
/ttg-be/templates/gallery/crg-default/phplugins

function ttg_head_end( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="/phplugins/css/custom.css" />
    ';
}

and uploaded the custom.css file here:
/ttg-be/templates/gallery/crg-default/phplugins/css

Not working.  What do I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks

#24 Re: CE4 Publisher » Create Album defaults to the wrong Album Set » 2016-05-06 05:20:22

All good.  FYI changing hosting companies made no difference to the operation of Publisher.  It worked perfectly after the move.  And there is no more error message.  I think it was a problem with 1and1 hosting.

Thanks for your help.

#25 Re: CE4 Publisher » Create Album defaults to the wrong Album Set » 2016-04-09 02:12:32

OK, nearly got it.

I'm doing exactly what you said in the two "Create.." sentences - but initially it didn't work - as you say, I think Publisher wasn't recognizing my Autoindex  for some reason.

Do you mean, don't upload an Autoindex to the "gallery" folder?  I get that part - only upload Autoindex to "templates" and templates to "gallery" - the part about Publisher not seeing it unless I create it in Publisher is still a bit murky.  The Autoindex has to be created in the Web module in order to contain all the formatting I want.

Thanks for your help (as always).
