Upgrade BK1 -BK3

I've just upgraded from Backlight 1 too Backlight 3 all went amazingly well :-)  one slight issue is that all my galleries seem to have lost their password logins I.E now none of my galleries are password protected,  if I look in Lightroom the option for the password is now greyed out??

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Did you download and install the latest Publisher plugin from your Backlight Modules page?

password protection changed a bit between BL1 and 2. Now, instead of username and password you’ll have an access code

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Hi Rod,

Yes i've downloaded the new LR plugin and see the new access code option,  but all the galleries that were created in BK1 are now unlocked, so how does BK3 deal with the upgrade for username and passwords previously created?

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

that's a good question. Matt or Ben will have to answer that.

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

I have hundreds of online galleries which are "Username" & "Password" which are now all open to everyone :-(

This is a major concern as I photograph a lot of children!!

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

until Matt or Ben can address this, here are a couple of things to try.

Reassign your password protected albums to your old Okapi album templates. (This assumes you had updated them to Pangolin templates)
I don’t know if this will restore password protection but it’s worth a try.

Hide the albums. Unfortunately, you’d have to do this one album at a time.

Not pertaining to this issue, there’s a new feature in BL3 that allows you to create personalized urls for your albums. For someone doing what you do, this is a nice touch.

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Hi Rod,

I think the only option i have is too revert back to BK1 for the moment,  I appreciate what you're saying regarding hidings the albums but that really isn't an option for me,  unless i'm missing something it seems crazy that such a basic upgrade for "username\passwords has been missed?

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Are you still using the Okapi templates?
If you’ve assign Pangolin templates to the albums, you could try reverting to your old Okapi templates.
you may need to install the Okapi modules from the Backlight Modules page.

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Hi Mark, due to the sensitivity of albums that should not be visible, I have run a query on your database to mark all albums that have usernames as protected.  This appears to have worked across a number of galleries I've tried.

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Hi Ben,

OK I see that has locked the galleries, If we are having to work with an access code now where is the option to enter the admin access code?  So we don't have to try and remember all the different access codes for all the galleries?

Re: Upgrade BK1 -BK3

Hi Mark, further from my last comment.  I have looked into this and there was an issue in the upgrade script that caused BL1 to BL3 upgrades to miss some necessary BL2 upgrades for Publisher.  I have fixed this on your site by changing the version number of Publisher back to the pre-BL2 upgrade version.  That has successfully completed all upgrade steps.

I have released a fix users who have yet to upgrade from BL1 to BL3.  Sorry for the trouble this has caused you.
