Hello
Ref my album: Album-Justified-1 Column
Photo Presentation > Slideshow > Arrows Background-color
Any change to this is ineffective.....it seems to be stuck on something like 35% Opacity Black. All other changes made in this album seem to get applied except this one.
It's used in this album:
https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/churches/all-churches/
How do I get it to work?

I've just gone back in after doing some other stuff and the background has updated for no apparent reason.
So I changed them again and they are stuck as before!
Browser & Template cache cleared to no avail.....it's almost like they need a lot of time to change.

After that long wait it took the change to Red background but now I've change it to Clear it doesn't want to know.....it's just reset to 35% Opacity Black.

I can't replicate the problem. Is your host using any sort of caching?

Just to confirm:
An 'X' in Arrows Background should mean the Background is Clear....correct?

No, that means it's using one of the default colors from the page template's Colors section.
At one time Matt had a tutorial on using the Colors in Backlight
If you want a specific color, then click on that X and choose a color. In the Arrows Background-color dialog there's an opacity slider if you want to make it transparent

Now I'm really confused!
In the page template Page - Justified - 1 Column > Color > Background is set to White
So if what you say is correct the Arrows background should be White......but it's Black with Opacity.

In the Album Template: Album-Justified-1 Column
I have: Photo Presentation > Slideshow > Arrows Background-color set as 'X'
_____
In the Page Template: Page-Justified-1 Column
I have: Color > Background set to White
_____
I am struggling to understand your comment:
"No, that means it's using one of the default colors from the page template's Colors section."
Which default color?
The only one that made sense was the one I changed above: Color > Background

any big X in one of the color pickers means that a global default color is being used.
those default colors are set in the page template under Color.
in the album template, under Photo Presentation, Background-color is the color behind the picture.
Arrows Background-color is the color behind the arrows

I don't buy that.
In my Galleria album template I have exactly the same 'X' in arrow background and black arrow foreground.....and it works.....the background is clear and the arrow is black. See below:
https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/churches/charlestown/
The page template colors are exactly the same as well so I don't see how it can be pulling anything different from the default colors in there.
It looks to me like Justified albums work totally differently to Galleria.....the icons look different, they are supposed to be black but they're not really.....more dark grey....they actually turn black when you hover. See below:
https://www.piktour.uk/galleries/travel … #gallery-3
Although it's annoying I'm actually getting used to it now so will probably leave it like it is and live with it.

The arrows are 50% opacity, regardless of color. They are never gray; they are black, and 50% opaque. When you mouse over them, they become 100% opaque.
If you want them to be otherwise, then you can override the CSS.
