Kudos for this upgrade process!

Upgraded my site a few minutes ago. That was the easiest upgrade of any piece of software from any publisher I have ever experienced.

Thanks to Matt and Ben for an excellent job, and to Rod and Daniel for always being there to offer assistance if needed. With this upgrade Rod and Daniel got to sleep late.  smile

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Thanks for the kind words, Glen, and for letting us know that the upgrade went well.  I'm here working the 'night shift' after release.  We do exhaustive testing, but with the heterogeneous server environments and setups, there are usually issues that we can't foresee.

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Thanks from me too. This was a breeze. Two sites upgraded and tested in less than 10 minutes!

Only question I had going in was if I also needed to replace the TTG_Publisher.LRPLUGIN as the instructions did not mention it. For those wondering... I did not.

Thank you again for a great product that suits my needs beautifully.

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

you do need to replace the Lightroom Publisher plugin. It needs to be version 5.0

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Hi Rod,
you're confusing me: When I download the latest LR Publisher plugin I see version v4.0.9 in the Change Log. Lightroom itself says 4.0.10.0 and you say it needs to be 5.0 ??? If you can, could you clarify this for us?

Thanks Alfred

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

you may be right. I was going off of memory. But there was an issue during testing that required an update to Publisher. So just be sure that you download the latest from the BL3 Modules page and install it

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

actually, it is version 5.0.0.0 of the TTG Publisher for Lightroom. That’s what’s showing in Lightroom

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Hii Rod,
thanks for looking into this, although the outcome is strange.I have downloaded the latest plugin from the Backlight3 Admin/modules page and installed it in Lightrom and when looking in the plugin-manager of Lightroom all I can see is version 4.0.10.0. Not sure what this means, really.

Publishing works, by the way.

Alfred

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

I don't either. Maybe Ben did some updating?

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Thanks again, Rod.
Let's see if Ben has something to say when he wakes up downunder :-). No urgency from this end, since publishing works apparently.

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

I've got a message in to Ben.
I'm pretty sure the issue is that the latest version didn't get added to the release stream.
I just downloaded it from my main site, which is using the release version. It shows 4.10 and exhibits the problems we found during testing.
It shouldn't affect normal publishing (non-private or access code protected albums)

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

That was indeed a step that I needed to complete.  I've updated the release version of the LR Publisher, so if you download it again, and reinstall in LR then you should see it at 5.0.0.0
Note that the changelog file within the zip file still says v4.0.9.  Our changelog files are lagging behind until we push our first maintenance update.

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Hi,
I also intend to upgrade to BL 3.

My memory limit is 128M, so it should work.
I assume that there will be no problems with the individual custom.css and phplugins after the upgrade, right?
Thanks
Markus

Re: Kudos for this upgrade process!

Hi Markus, we have reduced the size of the files that your server needs to download, so even the 32M limit that was failing for some users should now be sufficient.  128M will be fine.
Your custom.css and phplugins will work as before.
