Installation issue

I just purchased Backlight3.  I went to Backlight Modules and see the available modules.  When I select Update All under Backlight, I get the following error message:

The module was not installed: Class not found: ZipArchive. To fix this, reinstall Backlight at /backlight/installer. If the problem persists, please report error at http://community.theturninggate.net/viewforum.php?id=44

My file structure on the website is as follows:

/public_html/
       photo-now-backlight
              backlight
              galleries
              ...
              theater
              .htaccess
              error_log
              index.php

The website is www.photographs-now.com.  It is currently running Backlight 2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
-Herschel

Re: Installation issue

Hi Herschel, your PHP installation is missing the Zip extension, which should be standard.  If you have access to the available extensions (e.g. via your site's Control Panel) then enable the extension there.  Otherwise you'll need to ask your host's technical support to enable it.

Re: Installation issue

Interestingly, you would have had to have had the zip extension to have installed Backlight 2.  Perhaps your host has removed or disabled that extension since then?

Re: Installation issue

What version of Backlight were you upgrading from?  Can you provide me with a Backlight admin login via email so I can take a look.

Re: Installation issue

2 to 3

All modules are correctly updated to 3.

When I clicked on designer and publisher, a database update was made.

Then this error.

Re: Installation issue

Thanks.  I do not know how, but the upgrade process on your server did not trigger the right database changes.  I have made this happen by changing the version in the database back to 2.8.0.  Now it is again at three and the database structure is correct.

When you clicked Update on the Backlight Modules page, did you see a page with a long list of upgrades listed?  e.g. version 2.9.0, version 2.9.1, etc., till reaching 3.0.0?  That's the time that the database upgrade should have worked.

Re: Installation issue

No, on my website also no. The screen turned to blank. I had to restart safari and logged in once more. Then the modules were shown with 3.0.
Only on my NAS, when I clicked onto designer and publisher, database update was made after clicking on continue.

Rainer

Edit:

Before update the normal modules page was shown, if you meant this.

Re: Installation issue

That's really strange.  The way it's meant to work is:

1) Visit Backlight Modules page => see the list of modules with new versions
2) Click Update All Modules
3) After ten seconds or so, you'll see a plain page with a long list of text, with updates 2.9.0 etc through to 3.0.0.  On that page is a link "Click here to continue".  Clicking that take you to
4) The Backlight Modules page, with a list of all modules updated to the new versions.

What's strange is that the upgrade through 2.9.0 to 3.0.0 is all in a single transaction.  Either all of it should happen or none of it.  Not some parts upgraded and others missed.

Re: Installation issue

My official website worked after restart of safari. I didn'd see the update process, only blank site.
Maybe I have restart safari to early - but now all works.

Thank you for your quick help.

Re: Installation issue

I'm glad that worked.  Why did you need to restart Safari?

Re: Installation issue

The refresh of the blank site after update didn't work.
Maybe an error of IOS. This happens often. Sometimes I have to disable and enable wlan.
Maybe my adblocker - I don't know.

Hi Ben

Thanks for the quick reply.  I had missed that the 'zip' extension in cPanel was unchecked.  After activating it, the update went right through.  I cleared Template Cache just to be sure and things seem to be working.

I initially got a message that the Cart was unavailable, but I tried to place a photo in the cart and all went properly, including getting to a PayPal login page.  (I didn't go any farther.)

Thanks again
