Backlight supports Font Awesome version 4.7. you can find the proper syntax in the 4.7 docs: https://fontawesome.com/v4.7.0/
Looks like you're using syntax for version 5

I use FA v5. You need to read the docs for how to make that work. It's easy, but there's some setup.

I entered this first line of kit code into one of my menu names followed by the icon code
Whitelisted the action.
The existing social media icons can now be seen.
