Is it possible to integrate a Wordpress event calendar into Backlight?

Hi,

I'm looking into integrating a Wordpress Event Calendar into my site. Is this possible? Is there docs on this topic available?

Im thinking its possible just like a blog would be, but Id like it to be embedded in the site, and not click and leave the site to go to the calendar, and have to click back to the site.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Alex

The easiest, maybe only, way to do this is to create the page in WordPress and link to it from the main site. To match your site’s design, use the Backlight WordPress add on to create the WordPress theme.

You might also look into using the Pym embed i-frame feature of Theater.

I don’t recall if that feature was available in the Backlight 1 version of Theater; you may need to update your site to Backlight 2.

The only other possibility I can think of is to use phplugins and some ninja php skills to bring the calendar into a Backlight page.

This is just a page on your wordpress installation, isn't it? So just use the wordpress theme from BL/BL2, create the menu entries in backlight, and you are done.

This plugin needs a wordpress installation. Do you have one?

No I don't have one. What do I need to look for? Embed that plugin in a wordpress, then the wordpress to the website?

Thank you, Daniel!

To get started with Wordpress, please see http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … p#wp_theme

Once this is done, you would install the calendar plugin and use it in a page such as /blog/calendar. Then you can link to this page from your Backlight menu. That's it.

Re: Is it possible to integrate a Wordpress event calendar into Backlight?

Ok, great! Many thanks, Daniel.

In this way it would show embedded in my site and not have to leave it? Or it would leave the site as an external page?

I appreciate your help very much.

Alex

Re: Is it possible to integrate a Wordpress event calendar into Backlight?

You won’t have to leave your domain. Your Backlight site is separate from your WordPress installation.
But if you create a WordPress theme using the Backlight WordPress add-on. It will appear to your visitors that it’s all the same site.

It will be just like those of us who also have a blog. All blog content is created in WordPress but it all looks like the same site.
