Re: Contact form test email fails

Your host is blocking calls to the gmail server. This is quite usual.
Your best option is to send using the ‘mail’ setting rather than ‘smtp’, and setting a from address that matches your domain.

Re: Contact form test email fails

I have a similar problem: all mail sent thru the site ( http://www.nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com/fr/contact/ ) goes...in limbo! It never arrives at the destination, at all.
Mail Send Type: mail
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

Re: Contact form test email fails

SMTP Host doesn't matter if you're using Send Type: mail

Have you checked spam folders?

Is the site email address one that is associated with the domain (nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com?)

Re: Contact form test email fails

Yes, it is the email for Nathalie.

If I use MAIL as mail send type, nothing in the other boxes matters?

Just to be clear, the site email ends in @nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com

Re: Contact form test email fails

I've tried SMTP with their credentials (they are hosted on a different server than me) and I tried MAIL. Both do not work.

Re: Contact form test email fails

I know it's not "kosher" but the site email is from a different provider/server than the site's own server.

So, I'm left with either create a mail address with the site's domain name ( something like email@nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com)
or do away with the contact page altogether and just post contact information (like http://marccharlebois.com/marc_en/contact.php).

Re: Contact form test email fails

Finally decided that, for simplicity's sake, I removed the contact form and wrote the contact info.

By the way, could it be possible to have the email address as a link?

Re: Contact form test email fails

Succeeded in creating a link this way in Backlight>Designer Pages>Contact Design>Page Copy

<p><strong><center>postal address</center></strong></p>

<p><strong><center>Cel.: phone number</center></strong></p>

<p><strong><center>mailto: <a href="email address">email address</a></strong></p>

Seems to work great.

Re: Contact form test email fails

<center> is deprecated.
Use inline css instead.

<p style=“text-align:center;”>your content</p>

Re: Contact form test email fails

...it does center the text. But, is there a better way?

Use inline css instead.

Do you mean inserting these instructions in the CSS file rather than in the Page Content section of Backlight?

<p style=“text-align:center;”>your content</p>.

Tried this but it does not work. The text is all to the left side and on two lines.

But the main thing is that when I wrote this yesterday, it worked fine. Clicking on the link made my Outlook mail app display a pre-addressed message, ready to complete and send.
Today, however, I get a 404 error!

Re: Contact form test email fails

I now am using

<a href="mailto:someone@yoursite.com?subject=Mail from Our Site">Email Us</a>

Still in

Backlight>Designer>Pages>Contact + CV>Design>Page Settings>Page Copy

And it pops up a mail message, pre-addressed ready to fill-in and send.

<center> may work for now, but it is deprecated from html 5
https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_center.asp

Inline css means you add it inline with your text on the page, like this:

<p style="text-align:center;"><a href="mailto:someone@yoursite.com?subject=Mail from Our Site">Email Us</a></p>
(adding it to an anchor element <a> won't work unless you also change the display property of the anchor to block or inline-block)
