Content area position

On this page: https://pideja.ca/danlev/galleries/portfolio/ the video is the correct size, but the position is slightly low. This causes a part of the media to be "taller" than the viewport thus the dreaded white scrolling bar appears to the right of the screen.
If I could find a way to raise the video by 30px or 50px, it might do the trick.
I reduced the masthead padding from 24 to 0 but this does not seem to help.

Any ideas?

In the Inspector, I learn that div.content.clearfix is 1080 x 608.38 while the video file is 1920 x 1080. Is it the Backlight settings that the original video size is reduced?
It does not change the fact that the video is too low on the page.

Also, why is it that, in the Inspector, the page seems much taller than I would expect?

I reduced the size of the MASTHEAD from 1920 x 100 to 500 x 96, thinking that I could use the extra space for the content, but I guess that's not the way it's done.

the video is as high as it can get. It can't get up into the masthead area.

So the MASTHEAD area is a fixed size, right?

There is no way I can "overlap" the CONTENT area over the MASTHEAD?

it looks like the masthead height might be determined by the height of the identity plate. Which may in turn be determined by font sizes used for site title and tagline.

you might be able to "overlap" using custom css positioning and z-index, but my guess is that it would look weird.

Frankly, I think it looks fine just the way it is.

Thank you, Rod. I think so too. If it were not for some "jerking" cross-fades, it would be great. This slide show is made in Lightroom. Maybe I'll try another way...

Thank you, Matthew. I will look into that.

But I stumbled upon another problem: the page looks great at 1920x1080 but at 1440x900 the main content area spills into the side palette! And then, at lower sizes, the hamburger navigation sets in but when invoked, the palette looks too wide.
I set the palette at its minimum width of 200 and all margins and paddings at 0.

And frankly, I am at a loss as to what to do.

UPDATE: In CONTENT AREA>MAIN COPY>PADDING LEFT_RIGHT, I changed the setting from 0 to 60 and the layout looks better, much better.

There is rarely occasion to set paddings to 0. Should generally be used to provide negative space for the separation on content.
