backlight2 installation

I am trying to upgrade a site from Backlight 1 to Backlight 2. As instructed, I deleted all folders/files EXCEPT /backlight/data and /backlight/custom from the backlight folder. I kept everything else.
I then uploaded all the files contained in the Backlight 2 folder except the data and custom folders already in place from the previous installation.
I then logged into Backlight ( pideja.ca/danlev/backlight/installer ) and did the installation routine (order number+email address). Then Backlight declared itself installed, I pressed the "continue to Backlight" button and...no access! I get an HTTP ERROR 500.

In the backlight error_log, I read:

[08-May-2019 12:20:13 UTC] PHP Warning:  require_once(./backlight/framework/Framework.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/pidej435/public_html/danlev/index.php on line 17

I don't understand...

pideja.ca/danlev/backlight

Re: backlight2 installation

How about the index.php and .htaccess files for the root of the site?

Re: backlight2 installation

I altered the .htaccess file to enable https and the index.php is lifted directly from the Backlight 2 folder.

Re: backlight2 installation

Since I already have the Backlight 2 TTG-Publisher.lrplugin installed (for other sites I manage), do I have to install the plugin for the site in question today?

You no longer need to alter the .htacces file for https, there’s a setting in Backlight to enable that.

And to be clear, you uploaded the index.php file from the root of the unzipped Backlight-2-Inslaller folder abpnd Uploaded it to the root of the site?

Re: backlight2 installation

Try undoing whatever you did in the .htaccess file. Or simply delete it from the server and upload a fresh version.

Re: backlight2 installation

ISSUE RESOLVED...for Backlight, at least.
I copied the .htaccess file that was residing in the root of the site public_html/danlev/ and pasted this into the public_html/danlev/backlight folder.

Now, I'm trying to access pideja.ca/danlev, but still no luck.

Spoke to quickly...no access, more 500 errors!

That is wrong.

in your unzipped download you should have:

index.php
.htaccess
backlight/
galleries/

the index.php and .htaccess go in the root of the site.

In the backlight/ folder, among other things, you have a .htaccess file. That's the file that needs to be in the backlight/ folder on the site.

When you update a site from Backlight 1 to Backlight 2, upload everything in backlight/ folder from the unzipped download into the backlight/ folder of the site EXCEPT for the data/ and custom/ folders.

Re: backlight2 installation

Thanks, Rod,

It looks as if (this time) all is well and the site is now Backlight 2.
