Hi guys, I have bought and installed backlight 2 and I am following Rod's very helpful guide to convert a CE4 gallery to backlight
the new temporary site is here and the old one is here
I have a couple of questions
1. The main copy in the home page does not appear on the site, I have some text in the main copy in the page setting and nothing appears on the site
2. I have some unwanted gaps above and below the gallery that forces a smaller slideshow, I can't find how to get rid of them, can you help?

Are you using the "Expanded" option in the Galleria album template? If so, that will hide all copy.
If you are using Expanded, change that to "Inline" and save the template. You may need to clear template cache before seeing changes take effect. (link to clear template cache can be found on the main Backlight dashboard under Special Links

as to the gaps, that can be a function of aspect ratio combined with image ratio and size. Some images (the tall ones) extend down nearly to the thumbnails so there's really no gap at the bottom.
The top gap can, I believe, be affected by the Controls (Inside or Outside) setting.

Thanks - that's sorted

Thanks Rod, getting there and then I can work on the wordpress theme. One odd problem, there a couple of non working galleries on the galleries page (http://www.peterblandford.com/galleries/) at the bottom Danny's 50th and Peter's 2015 photos, there is no directory that corresponds to them when I look by FTP, any idea how they got there and how to get rid of them?

looks like those are leftovers. See if you can delete them from Backlight
In Backlight, go to Publisher. Click on the Albums link that corresponds to you top level gallery.
Look for those two albums. Click on the name of the album. You'll see an option to delete.

Thanks again Rod!
One final question, is there a way of making the home page gallery not visible in the galleries section?
Offline
yes. Just hide it. Look under the Features tab of the album

I am getting somewhere with the blog, in the meantime, I noticed that the images on the slideshow on the front page are only 960 pixels wide, which makes them very small on my retina laptop.
I have changed the settings on the gallery template for the image renditions to be 2048x2048 as an extreme test, and it makes no difference. Is there another setting I need to change?

after making changes like that to the template, you need to republish the images.
If you have more questions, could you post them under their own topic? That makes it easier for others to find answers to similar questions.
