Hi Ben, Hi Rod
Which is the highest PHP version compatible with legacy CE4?
regards, thanks
Offline
you might want to do forum search on that (vaguely remember it coming up before). Or wait for Ben or Matt. I'm thinking it was something like 5.6, but I could easily be wrong.

My service provider (Lunarpages) just announced that they will be replacing PHP 5.6 with v 7.2 in March. I use CE4 Publisher to maintain the galleries in three sites. Can you tell us if this will still work?
Offline
I just looked at some older messages and an updated version of CE4 works uner PHP 7 (http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 692#p51692).
You need to download TTG BE again and then replace ttg-be/framework/lib/Parsedown.php and lib/php/Parsedown.php on the server.

Hi Choke,
I would start with downloading and installing the latest version of the ttg_be package and see if this fixes your issue. Ben did some changes in the past in order for CE4 to run with PHP 7.

My site is a hybrid of CE4 and CE3 galleries. (I know, I should have fixed the CE3 problem years ago, but c'est la vie!). Lunarpages is now at php v 7.2 and they have removed v5.6 altogether. I tried the replacement of Parsedown and now have two problems.
1. The CE4 galleries still return the error message caused by php v7.
2. The CE3 galleries run fine but return this message at the top of the screen: Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; Markdown_Parser has a deprecated constructor in /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/publisher/api/lib/markdown.php on line 191
How do we fix that one?
Thanks,
Paul

Have you updated the ttg-be installation as Daniel suggested?
There may be nothing for the ancient CE3 galleries other than perhaps migrating them to CE4 albums if you were using Publisher in CE3

I installed the two files (Parsedown and SimpleHTMLTag) that I downloaded in February.
As I recall, that did not work for the CE3 galleries, which is why it is a hybrid site.

I just did an update of ttg-be using the instructions that came with the zip file CE4-TTG-BE-205a.zip. It did not clear the php 7 error and I cannot login in to admin. The screen stays blank.

Any thoughts?

Did you replace the old ttg-be entirely?
If so, you’ve likely replaced your old databases as well. They contain all the site information such as admin, Cart, publisher, etc.
To log in, try the default credentials
If you did replace the entire ttg-be folder, do you have a backup of the old one, including the databases?

I first did only parsedown in two locations and SimpleHTMLTag and that did not work so I uploaded the admin and framework folders and could not login to admin. The screens is blank.
Where do I find the databases?

If you only updated the admin and framework folders then the databases should be ok. They’re in a folder named “data” I believe.
Ben will need to take a look at the other issues.

Under ttg-be/data/publisher is mastersq3 274MB that must be the database
Offline
yep, that's the database for albums and album sets

So do you have any idea how I can login to ttg-be admin? And how to get my site running under php v 7.2?

the only way I know is the usual way: yoursite.com/ttg-be/
Are you getting the login screen at all? if so, you can recover your password. Or try the default of admin/ttg8888.
If not, contact Ben.

Have you tried uploading everything in the latest version of ttg-be EXCEPT the data/ and templates/ folders?

No. I could try that if you think it might work. I need to get this working again because I am getting a bunch of complaints about the failure of the CE4 galleries.
It looks like the error in ttg-be admin is in the admin template.
I am seriously thinking about switching to backlight. I bought backlight1 and built a sample gallery but never got off the ground with it. I assume I should just buy backlight2 and start from scratch with that version. I have many questions, mostly regarding how to preserve my current color scheme, header and menus, plus migrating the non-gallery existing pages. I sort of freeze at the thought of all that work.

To get things working now, you should send Ben an email with your ttg-be admin and FTP credentials.
Best option would be updating to Backlight.
You'll need to start from scratch with your design. The good news is that it's a whole lot easier and faster than working in Lightroom's Web Module.
CE4 Publisher controlled albums and sets can be migrated to Backlight control.
Your existing non-album pages will need to be re-created. You can just copy/paste text from Lightroom to Backlight.
