Trying to access the Backlight page for a site I manage. Won't recognize user name/password combo. After many tries,
I try the "Forgotten password" link. But this page will not recognize my user name/email combination.

After being sent a Backlight Unlock Link, I've tried to change the password, but Backlight still fails to recognize it.
Also, when I invoke the password retrieval link http://yoursite.com/backlight/admin/?a= … _passwords the file that appears in /backlight/data/admin/password.txt. is named info.txt rather than password.txt and it contains erroneous credentials!

It worked! Thanks, Rod.
The whole point of this was to try and find out why the large image on this site: https://pideja.ca/tnm/galleries/saison- … single.php have the filename under the image and on this site,:https://pideja.ca/duc/galleries/2018-20 … single.php they don't.
The blue site (Duceppe) is based on the red site's (TNM) template. There is surely a setting that has been altered.
Trying to compare, item by item, where is the difference causing this?

I had yet again had to retrieve the password for a site this morning. And, yet again, clicking the "forgotten password link" failed because my user name/email combo is not recognized.
So, I tried all sorts of user name/password combinations to get access to the Backlight settings page until Backlight sent me a link to unlock the settings page.
Also, when I do http://pideja.ca/tnm/backlight/admin/?a … _passwords, the file published under /backlight/data/admin/password.txt is called user.txt and it only contains the credentials "admin" and my email. That is incorrect, of course.

Backlight 2 does not store plain text passwords, so is unable to retrieve passwords. All it can do is provide links to reset the password. When you visit the Forgotten Your Password? link, if the Username and Email are found, then an email is sent out, and also, the reset link is logged to the latest file under backlight/data/admin/logs/. For example, after trying it on my development environment, I have the file:
./backlight/data/admin/logs/2019_03_08.log
containing the following contents:
[08-Mar-2019 20:38:13] TRACE: To reset your password, visit the following link: http://backlight2.local/backlight/admin/reset/339c22e403d7063cd630fa2f1b279da4d1c25b18/
The logging is useful as a fallback when emails aren't going out or being received.
Of course, that won't help if Backlight doesn't recognise your username or email. Have you set an email address for your admin account? After installing or upgrading to Backlight 2, you should have been prompted to update settings on the next login, including adding an email address to your admin account. If you hadn't set that, then there probably isn't an email address associated with your admin login.
If that's the case then the only way to solve this is to edit your database directly. I can do that for you if you can provide me with FTP access via Email.

Hello Ben,
I just sent you an email with my FTP credentials.

Hi Pierre, please check your email.

Hello Ben,
After receiving your email message, I reset the password. Then, I deliberately invoked the lost password link on another of my sites, just to check. OK, it works!
Thank you for this.
