Image size automatically bigger

Hi Backlighters,

When I upload an image that has a fixed height of 369px on 72DPI it appears that the image is automatically being blown up and showing a bigger size then it should be.
On my page: http://www.aimhigh.aero/publications/ I want the image in the main column to be at the same size as the ones in the left column. It this a responsive matter that is is show automatically larger than the original file?

Or do I need to add a code that fixes the image to its original size?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Image size automatically bigger

On my laptop, the images in the left column are 326x223. The images on the right are 882x254. Those dimensions are the displayed size not the effective image size. Due to responsive design and column width size constraints, both images are scaled down but by a different amount.

I would suggest that you make your images smaller so that they appear the same size, at least when your page is viewed at maximum size.

Re: Image size automatically bigger

Backlight will never upscale images to larger than 100% their actual size.

Re: Image size automatically bigger

That is weird, because I have made a photoshop template of 539x369 and the images itself have a fixed dimension of 241x340.
How is it possible that you see the images according to the right size and I see them bigger....

See the screenshot of my screen.

Re: Image size automatically bigger

For starters, the images on the right side are 1280px wide, which is entirely unnecessary. Trim the whitespace. Presently, they're being scaled by their width -- because the images are wider than the column containing them -- and the height is scaling proportionally. Have you looked at them on mobile, because they're tiny and not using the space they ought to have available.

Also, because you mention it up top, DPI is irrelevant to Web. Here's an old article I wrote specifically to debunk all of that:

Sorry, I didn't say that they have the right size! I said that both were scaled down but by a different factor. Your images are too big to be shown in their original size!

Sorry for misunderstanding. I have scaled down the images to three height sizes now. 250px, 200px, 150px

When I check on my iMac and Macbook it appears that the 250px is still be enlarged but the 200 and 150px is now showing it right.
Seems that I have to rescale to 150px/200px to show the way I want.

Re: Image size automatically bigger

I seem to have fixed the issue by adding a height and width tag to the images.
