In upgrading from BL1 to BL2
Please clarify if I copy the (new BL-2 Installer) backlight folder over the (previous) backlight folder (now containing backlight/data and backlight/custom) ?
1) "Delete or move aside everything from within /backlight except for /backlight/data and /backlight/custom"
- now I have the following folded remaining: (/backlight/data /backlight/custom)
--> 2) "Copy the files from within the ZIP to your server" (.htaccess, index.php, galleries, backlight)
Thanks,
Jeff

Don’t copy over the backlight/ folder itself. That will overwrite the custom/ and data/ folders
Remove everything in the online backlight/ folder except the custom/ and data/ folders.
Open the backlight/ folder from the BL2 Installer download and upload everything except the custom/ and data/ folders to the online backlight/ folder
Be sure to upload the index.php and .htaccess files from the root of the downloaded installer folder to the root of the site.

Continuing this BL1 to BL2 update
After this step:
"After a moment, you should be informed that “Backlight 2 was installed successfully”. From here, press “Continue to Backlight”."
I get the following error message:
"Something went wrong
Unable to find pageTemplate with ID 77. Try updating the selected template for the application. in EngineFactory.php on line 36"
Any thoughts?

Did you upload the index.php and .htaccess files from the unzipped installer folder to the root of your site?
There are four items in the unzipped Installer download:
backlight/
galleries/
index.php
.htaccess
Uploaded the index.php and .htacess files
They need to replace the files that were already there from BL1.
If your FTP program isn’t set to overwrite existing files, then delete those two files from the root of your site and upload them from Installer download.
If the problem persists, then Ben will need to take a look. He’ll likely need Backlight Admin and FTP access.

Did you install the Okapi modules in Backlight > Admin > Backlight Modules? They are needed if your site is Okapi and not Pangolin based.

Thanks Rod
Confirming that the following were copied from the BL2 installer into site root:
backlight/ (content sans data and custom copied into site/backlight)
galleries
index.php (moved original site version to backup location)
.htaccess (moved original site version to backup location)
I can plan to support further debug
Thanks

Ben will probably need to look into it then. It appears that you've put everything where it's supposed to go.
He'll need a link to your site and probably backlight admin access as well as FTP access.
Do you know what php version your site is using?

As Rod suggested, please provide me with FTP access via email so I can look into it.
