Copy localization files

I am setting up a second Backlight site. Halfway through I realized I should have copied the old site and just removed the galleries. I just hit the localization issue...

Is there a way to copy the localization file(s) from my first site in order to get all the translations and preffered naming I once set up? It would save me a lot of time.

there are no localization files, it's all in the database.

It looks like you can export the language entries from your first Backlight site and import them into the second.

Before you start, be sure to back up both databases (the /backlight/data/ folder). If you're not comfortable with doing things with the database then you're best off waiting for Ben.

But if you want to try, try this:

To get to the database, log into your first Backlight site. In the Backlight dashboard under Special Links, click the phpLiteAdmin link
The password is "admin"

In the left panel under Change Database, click on the Admin master link

Then below that, click on the language_value table link

On the right-hand side, click on the Export tab. Under Save As, give the file a name that makes sense to you and click Export. Save it where you can find it later.

That exports the main language settings.

If you need the Cart languages, go back to the Change Database section and click on Cart__master. then language_value, then the Export tab and export again, giving it a different file name.

If you need Client Response language settings, just do the same thing, only chose Client Response under Change Database.

Now log into your new Backlight site, go to the database.
Under Change Database click on Admin--master. Then click on language__value
Click on Import
Browse to the file you previously exported then import it.

Repeat for any other language settings you need (Cart, Client Response)

I would start again with your second BL site. But first export the new templates you have already created. Then use the BL data directory from your first install as a starting point. I think that's easier than having to work directly on the database files.

Rod - Before installing Backlight1 from scratch, I made a copy of all folders. Is there in them one that copied back to the new installation will restore the look of the old gallery? I mean CSS and Polish translation...

Actually, I would like to restore all backlight settings (templates, products, pricings). Is it possible if I have folders?

you could try uploading the data folder
And if you were using any custom css or phplugins, upload the custom folder too.
