Trying to have the URL point directly to a gallery page. No need for all the other pages. I just want to see the images as thumbnails and then as large images.

For the purposes of this site (image evaluation), I only need the Galleries page and, possibly, the Contact page. How can I set it so that when dialing pideja.ca/mbf, I get to the gallery page directly?

insert the Gallery Page album set into the home page
If you want the album itself as the home page, then insert the album into the home page.

Create a new shortcut on your desktop. In the box for "type the location of the item" paste the url of the page you want to go to, https://pideja.ca/mbf/galleries/ in this case. That url is gotten by actually going to the page in question, clicking on the url of the page in the address bar, press ctl-c to copy it, then ctl-v in the box mentioned above. Don't forget to click next, then give the shortcut a name.
