More upgrade to Backlight 2 woes

Tried to upgrade another of my sub-domain sites from Backlight 1.2 to Backlight 2.
I Deleted from within /backlight except for /backlight/data and /backlight/custom. I made sure to leave any gallery folders untouched.

Continued to install Backlight 2 according to the Backlight 2 Installation Setup: I copied the files from within the ZIP to your server. That's the backlight & galleries folders + the Index.php and the .htaccess files.

That's as far as I got. Trying to log into the Installer went well. I installed Backlight 2. But then, trying to log into the Backlight Setup for the first time, it didn't recognize the usual ttg888 password.

After a few times trying this, I decided to ask for a password retrieval. It's then that I received this message:

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1 no such column: email in PdoExtended.php on line 524

I can't understand why it's so difficult for me to do this rather straightforward upgrade?

https://pideja.ca/danlev/backlight I should want the "first-time" username/password combo: admin/ttg8888

if you're updating an existing site, first try using the login credentials for that site

OK the old credentials do work.

But still, I am facing a full re-design because the old templates don't seem to transfer at all. For me, this is the upgrade from hell.

Re: More upgrade to Backlight 2 woes

are you using Okapi templates? If so, be sure to also install the Okapi modules from the Backlight Modules page.

Any Pangolin templates should work as they always did.

Under Backlight 2 any phplugins you were running under Backlight 1 will need to be re done. You'll need to use the current Backlight sample phplugin file and your functions will need to be slightly changed.
See Daniel's post on this: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=8966

if that's not it, can you be more specific as to the problems

Re: More upgrade to Backlight 2 woes

As a "quick fix" is it possible to re-install the previous web site? I saved all the files that were on the server, just in case something like this might happen.
I'm not too sure about the Publisher plug-in. Should I revert to the previous Backlight v1.2 version?

The current Publisher plug-in works with Backlight 1 sites

Re: More upgrade to Backlight 2 woes

So, I put up the last version (Backlight 1.2.2) of this site http://pideja.ca/danlev/ and re-installed the publisher plug-in. Checked the API Authentification: ok.
But, of course, nothing happens. This is a simple site, automatically streaming in Vegas Slideshow mode a series of jpeg images. Can't be that difficult. But nothing shows up. Both the Backlight and the Chrome Browser caches were cleared.

I don't really know what you are doing, Pierre. But why don't you have just one site with galleries for your different ventures/clients?

What I noticed is that the images of your slideshow are not present.

Pierre, see my response to your other post, about Backlight location and publishing galleries to named folders.
