The transition from CE4 to BL2 continues slowly...
Where should I place the album that will contain the images that will appear in my Galleria slideshow on my Index page? Do I need to create another top-level gallery and place this album here? Or is there a way of identifying that an album in the default "Galleries" should not appear in the Default Galleries page. Essentially, where should the photos be placed that are associated with the index, contact, and about pages that used to be published together in CE4?
Also, in CE4 I used Galleria to produce a filmstrip that had images sliding and fading in from the right and out to the left. This was referred to as Fadeslide in the settings. Where is this option now? I thought I had my addons mixed up and just purchased Theatre but is doesn't seem to be there either.
Cheers,
Bob.

Just create a Galleria album as you normally would. If you don’t want it appearing on the Galleries page then hide it. I believe the checkbox for that is under the Features Tab in the Lightroom Publisher Create/Edit Album dialogue, just like in CE4 Publisher.
In your Index Page, use the Insert Album feature to place your Galleria album on the page.

Use html to place any inline images on pages

Try the Theater Filmstrip presentation

So I found the “Hide from album set” in the features tab but turning this on only resulted in an eye icon with a stroke through it appearing beside the gallery name.

The eye icon indicates that this is a hidden album and it is only visible while you are logged in as admin. Open the gallery in a different browser or log out and you will notice that the hidden album is indeed hidden. I would select the 'hide from search' flag as well since you don't want this album to be found when searching your site. It is next to the 'hide from album set' flag.

Try the Theater Filmstrip presentation
Ok, the Theater Filmstrip with the slideLeft2 option gets me part way there although I miss the slide fade effect (any way of getting this added?). Also, I cannot figure out how to get a filmstrip of thumbnails to show below. Thumbnails are listed under image renditions but I cannot see where to turn them on.

That presentation doesn’t display thumbnails.
Thumbnails are under Image Renditions in all album templates, it’s just part of the module. And thumbnails are still used for display in album sets.

So was there functionality in CE4 that is not available in BL2? It would be frustrating if we cannot replicate our CE4 website using BL2, as a start. I went back to the Galleria module which gives me the filmstrip on the bottom but not the slide effect I had previously with CE4.

You can add the Galleria fadeslide on your own if you like.
To get started, see this post: http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … ide-shows/

Use html to place any inline images on pages
So I still have not Figured this out. I have published albums named 'about' and 'contact' with only one photo in each. At first I assumed that I would then just place these albums on the respective pages but do not want the thumbnail 'clickable' and want it larger, neither of which I could figure out. Then, on your suggestion above, I realised that the photo is in a directory that I could just link to but my code below must be messed up and I have tried all combinations of what directory to start with.
<img src=”/www.robertametcalfe.com/public_html/newsite/galleries/about/photos/DSC_7791.jpg”>
I also see that in the About template under photo presentation there is a presentation type with an option for single-image pages. What does this mean? (Is there actually Documentation that goes through each item in the software? All I have seen are overviews of modules which are not very helpful).

don't use albums. Create pages.
Put the html in the page copy.
and your url needs to be formed correctly:
http://www.yoursite.com/image-folder/image.jpg
see this for some guidance: http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … lock-text/
it's a bit dated, but the same classes are used for Backlight as used in CE4

The culprit were some curly quotes. But now to my other question:
1. Is there actually Documentation that goes through each item in the software? All I have seen are overviews of modules.

no, there isn't. Everything that's currently available is linked from the Documents and Support page
