First make sure that you uploaded the respective .hataccess and index.php files to where they belong. There is a .htaccess and index.php file at the top of the unzipped installer file you downloaded. Those go in the root of the site.
There is a .htaccess and index.php file in the backlight/ folder of the unzipped download. Those need to go in the backlight/ folder on the site.
I'm not seeing the error on your site. Instead, I see a page with no styling.
You can also try updating the album files from the Special Link section of the main Backlight dashboard.

Hey Rod... so I am cobbling things together here and resolved the error message, but yes.. all of my styling from BL1 is not showing up.. I thought I had updated everything and have the templates assigned and cleared the cache but still am missing the styling...

did you install the Okapi modules? (if your BL 1 site was still using Okapi)
did you also update the album files?

If you're using the original "Okapi" modules, then you will need to install them from Admin => Backlight Modules.
If using the newer "Pangolin" modules -- which we would prefer -- then the migration should not require any extra steps. Can you please confirm which you've been using?

You can delete them from the backlight/modules folder. They would be the folders beginning "standard-", such as "standard-page", "standard-album", etc.

did you make sure the the .htaccess files are in the right places?

there is one in the top level of the uzipped installer download. There is another in the backlight/ folder. They both need to be uploaded.
The one at the top level goes to the root of the site, alongside the backlight/ and galleries/ folders and the index.php file.
The one in the backlight/ folder stays in the backlight/ folder.
Are you seeing both of these files in the download?

Okay.. it was the .htaccess files that were the issue in ALL of my problems.. the problem is they do not show up as files in the mac OS so there is no way to know they are there.. the only way I could get them was to upload the entire install folder and drag them to where they needed to go...Thanks!

In Windows as well, they are often hidden. In the install docs, Matt mentions setting your OS or FTP program to show hidden files. Still, that one is easy to miss.
Glad it's working now.
