after following the upgrade instructions for backlight 2, I got the following message
Backlight 2 was installed successfully”. From here, press “Continue to Backlight”.
I then clicked on continue and tried to log in using
username admin, password ttg8888
I got an error message from the browser, not from Backlight. I tried entering in the address
http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight
I do get the Backlight admin controls, like I used to with Backlight v1. I get a page with the following text:
"Your Company
Welcome
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam eu blandit nisl. Suspendisse potenti. Pellentesque varius sagittis nibh, quis vulputate sapien molestie eget. Nulla suscipit lobortis placerat. Duis ultricies faucibus metus pellentesque vestibulum. Sed lobortis, lorem vitae tempus vestibulum, massa augue tempus quam, eu convallis orci nisl nec elit. Donec rutrum viverra magna id ornare. Sed sed leo elementum, malesuada nulla quis, pretium libero.

I just downloaded BL2 this evening, so it is the newest version.

Make sure that you've copied the correct .htaccess files into the correct locations.
The .htaccess file at the top of the extracted Installer zip needs to be uploaded to the top of your website (e.g. under public_html)
The .htaccess file located within backlight/ from extracted Installer zip needs to be uploaded into backlight/ on your server.

That’s the reason for my comment. It looks like the backlight/ page is being processed by the index.php at the top of your site rather than the one inside Backlight. That suggests either the backlight/.htaccess file is missing or is the file meant for the top of your site.
If you’re sure it’s correct, and also that the respective index.php files are correct, but it’s still not working, then can you provide me with FTP access via email?

another odd thing I notice. When I enter the web address sweetlightgallery.com/backlight, besides getting the text posted above on the website page, I notice that the web address has turned to http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight/installer/

Ben, I just emailed you the FTP access

Have you not run the installer yet? That's part of the installation and upgrade process for Backlight 2.

Yes, I ran the installer and got the following message
Backlight 2 was installed successfully”. From here, press “Continue to Backlight”.
I then clicked on continue and tried to log in using
username admin, password ttg8888

If upgrading, your old username and password should work.

I get the text posted above. No option to enter in a username and password.

I've found a problem - the wrong index.php had been uploaded into backlight/installer/
Can you visit http://sweetlightgallery.com/backlight/installer/ and continue with the process?
Offline
OK, it now works and I am able to log into BL2. The index.php file was uploaded from Backlight-2-Installer-102, so I do not understand why there was a problem.
Offline
You had uploaded at least one file to the wrong location.
