In slideshow mode, the "Next" and "Previous" buttons appear on each side of the image but only for a few seconds. To let them re-appear you must move the mouse. Is it possible to change this behaviour and have the buttons always displayed?

Not through the Backlight interface, but perhaps by modifying the slideshow script.
Which slideshow are you using? What version of Backlight?

The version of Backlight is 1.2.3.
The slideshow is from the Pangolin Album.

Probably not work messing with. The arrows fade out so as not to obscure the image. If you're not wanting to deal with the mouse, then you can also use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate.
