I must be dense. last evening I was demonstrating Backlight for a friend and chose an album to show with the slideshow. After clicking the play button the slideshow started but the image duration was too short. I found the setting for Galleria but have been unable to find the setting in Backlight for image duration. What am I missing?
An example gallery on my site is:
Turkey Favorites September 2017

You’re not dense. There is no control.
Would be a nice addition though.

Slideshow is really too fast. Is there any way to slow it down?

If I remember correctly, Matt mentioned yesterday, that this is on the list of things he likes to address.

mmm, tried it and no result. I am using the Backlight - Album Template and therein:Photo Presentation - Slideshow. Changing the settings as per your link does not change the speed of Slideshow. What am I missing?

did you upload the changed file to the corresponding location on the server?
Did you clear template cache?
Also try clearing browser cache.

Yes, did all of that. Still no change. I am however not using Galleria or Vegas, just the standard built-in slideshow. Is that the problem?
