Building my site- gone through the directions and have pages- but they don't show up on the live site.
marksampsonphotos.com goes to hostgator setup page
.../galleries/ gives what ought to be the (proto) home page. other pages show up as 404s
I thought just hitting 'save' would publish these.
ideas?

Have you uploaded the required index.php and .htaccess files?

I've uploaded Backlight and Pages. I can see the index.php files. Cannot find any files labelled .htaccess, or a way to locate them if they are 'hidden' (why would they do that? never mind) .
I've created the various pages, home, contact, about... so they exist in basic form.

For Windows:
1) Select the Start button, then select Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization.
2) Select Folder Options, then select the View tab.
3) Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.
For Mac:
1) Open Terminal found in Finder > Applications > Utilities.
2) In Terminal, paste the following: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES.
3) Press return.
4) Hold the 'Option/alt' key, then right click on the Finder icon in the dock and click Relaunch.
And if you don't see them in your FTP tool, check its preferences.
