Re: Set Up Backlight for New Look to Existing Bluehost-hosted Website

Have you set the Site URL correctly?
It would help greatly if you could post a link to the site.
Also consider providing Backlight Guest Updater credentials. This would go a long way to quickly solving the problem.
You can either post the credentials here on the forum or email them to me. (Email address is under my name and picture on the left)

Re: Set Up Backlight for New Look to Existing Bluehost-hosted Website

I want to augment the css style sheet with elements of my own (colored image borders, my default colors, etc.)

Some have obviously been incorporated through Backlight Designer, but there are so many css files in backlight, I cannot seem to find the correct one.

Thanks, I hope,

  TBC/Margo

Don’t change any existing css. Instead use a custom stylesheet

Re: Set Up Backlight for New Look to Existing Bluehost-hosted Website

I want to sometimes add slideshows without thumbnails to some of my pages.  As I peruse the various information, it would seem that I cannot do this with the regular Publisher but that the Galleria or Theater add-in might do the trick.  Yes?  No?  I do not want full-screen slide shows for this use.

Thanks,

  TBC

Theater and a Galleria are album types. They are managed by Publisher just like any other album.
Both can be deisplayed inline.
Be sure to look at the demos

Re: Set Up Backlight for New Look to Existing Bluehost-hosted Website

The Theater add-in is working out well.  One small glitch on the Albums Set page:

One of the albums has been designated as not showing up, and yet it does.  Further, there is some sort of empty duplicate.

I restarted Lightroom, optimizing the catalog in case there was some hold-over, but that didn't get rid of the recalcitrant albums.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, and take care,

Re: Set Up Backlight for New Look to Existing Bluehost-hosted Website

It always helps if you can post a link to pages that are giving problems.

But I can take a guess as to what's happening. Sometimes, for reasons unknown, Publisher will create a duplicate album containing no images. Usually this album has the slug you want and the other one, the one with the images is appended with a "1".

You can delete the empty one from withing the Backlight interface.

1. Login into Backlight
2. Visit Backlight > Publisher > Top-level Galleries
3. Click on 'Albums' for the Top-level gallery your album sits under
4. Click on the name of the album you want to delete
5 Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'Delete Album'
6. Click 'Delete' to confirm

(copied from one of Ben's posts so I didn't have to write it out)

The reason you're seeing those two albums is because you're logged in to Backlight. Notice the little "eye with a slash through it" icon. That denotes that the album is hidden to any visitors.

Since this is getting quite a way off the original topic, if you run into any more issues, could you start a new topic for each? Be sure to include links to problem pages.

Did you notice the closed eye symbol?

The closed eye indicates that it is a hidden album and you only see this if you are logged into the backlight backend. Open your site in another browser and you will not see the hidden album.
