Getting started

It seems every time I start a new project in Backlight (Pangolin), I fail the initial setup. Don't know what it is but it takes me forever to figure out why my changes do not appear on the site.

The test site: pideja.ca/luc Guest access is available. Name: Guest Admin / password: BeMyGuest

I placed the backlight and gallery folders along with the index.php file in the sub-folder of pideja.ca
I then set up the publisher plugin into Lightroom an assigned an API key.

I then created a basic PAGES setup. Color, background image and some other settings. Just to see. But, alas, there is nothing to see!

What am I always missing when I start another project?

UPDATE: I since "discovered" that after creating a basic PAGE template, I must edit the HOME, GALLERY and CONTACT page in order for them to use the basic PAGE template I created in the first place. Making headway...

Re: Getting started

Well, as you may have seen, I found my way, at least partially. One thing giving me a hard time is that area where the navigation is: I'm trying to get it to be transparent so I can see the page background (paper texture). I think it's in the PAGE SETUP/COLOR/BASE OFFSET because I can change the color but can't get it to be transparent. Is it a case for CSS? Also, the footer (copyright) is too low. More CSS?
Any hints?

Re: Getting started

your navigation is in the top pallet. Change the background color of the top pallet.

to raise the copyright text, I think you'll need custom css.

Using the inspector, looks like adding some margin-bottom to .page__pallet__bottom should do it. Maybe the ul or ul li inside that div.

Re: Getting started

The only colors in the HORIZONTAL NAVIGATION section are:

Menu Items
Color BLACK
Color :hover : WHITE

All other color and background settings at TRANSPARENT.

If I raise  BOTTOM PALLET/COPYRIGHT/Border-bottom it only creates a white border but does not influence the position of the text.

Top Pallet. That's where you've placed your navigation. Try changing the background color in the Top Pallet if you want that white bar to be transparent.

Custom css. See my previous answer above for the selector to try.

Re: Getting started

I checked and all the color settings for the top pallet are set to...transparent.

As for the copyright, I checked it in the Firefox inspector tool and was able to raise the bottom pallet by 5 instead of zero. Seems to work.

Re: Getting started

The navigation was placed in the top pallet. The top pallet's background is set to transparent.

The white background came from the Masthead > Primary Masthead border-top setting (48px)
There was also a Primary Masthead border-bottom setting of 13px. I set both to zero.

Re: Getting started

Thanks, Rod.

I am now trying to remove the "search" link...

Success! Now, it's on to the fr and en pages...
