I broke it!

I deleted the Defaults Page Template.
on doing that, I was prompted to select another page that is used for Albums, so I chose that one.
Now if I go o a Client Select album, it can't find that landing page and it returns:

Something went wrong
Unable to find pageTemplate with ID 1. Try updating the selected template for the application. in EngineFactory.php on line 71

So where can I specify what page to land on when a Client Select album is chosen?
(That's what I wanted to do in the first place).

Re: I broke it!

If you go to the Backlight web page, choose Publisher > Top-level Galleries

From there you should be able to assign the top-level galleries by clicking EDIT

You can also drill down and view all albums within that gallery, and assign their templates as well

You can also click on VIEW to go to those pages and albums. Do that and note the URL. Make sure that's the same URL you thought it was.

Re: I broke it!

Thanks fir the suggestion, but that doesn't show the landing page for a client Select gallery though.
See here:
http://www.marlajenkinsphotography.com/ … _Galleries
and select the second thumb - Brandon & Julie, to show what I am seeing.

Re: I broke it!

Brandon and Julie is using the "Customer Select Gallery" template, the only album using that template. That template is a Client Response template and looking at the template in your Backliight Designer, it looks like that's template 32, not template 1.

I'd try creating a new Client Response album template and assigning it to the album in question.

Re: I broke it!

I'm struggling to understand your terminology. The collection of photos created in Lightroom is your album. In this case, it's "brandon & julie".

In Backlight you create templates. Some are for pages, others are for albums (collect of photos), and there are album sets (a collection of albums).

The missing item is a "page template" but I don't know if that's the same one as the others. If so, then all you have to do is assign that (client select) "page template" to that (brandon & julie) "album"

When you say Backlight "can't find that landing page" I think you're saying the (brandon & julie) "album" is no longer associated with your client select "album template"

You can assign the album you created in Lightroom to any of your album templates. While in Lightroom, edit the album and you can select one of your templates.

You can also assign your album templates within Backlight at the Publisher page for top-level galleries. Start with the top, where you're albums can be found, and find the album in question (brandon & julie). When you find it, you can assign the album template you created (which is the same one as all the others, if I understand you correctly).

Re: I broke it!

Peter, can you check and verify that the /backlight/client-response/ folder exists on the server (as opposed to the /backllight/modules/module-client-response/

Hi Rod, I have both those folders.
It was all ok, until I started to clean up my templates (house keeping), since I am close to finishing up.

For test purposes I created a new gallery from scratch:

1. Under Backlight/Designer/Templates I am at the Album Templates section:
I then 'Create New Template'.

I call this one 'Customer Response' I use an existing Page Template called 'Private Gallery Page' and I enable 'Client Response' from the Add-ons.

2. In Lightroom, I select Create Album by right clicking on the Album set i want it to appear in (Private Galleries).
I call it Test and use the 'Customer Response' template from the pull-down.

3. add some photos and give a user/pass under Features (test/test), then publish.
Test album now appears correctly, but clicking it also gives me the same error.

http://www.marlajenkinsphotography.com/ … _Galleries

I'm doing everything correctly, but it seems that if you do not have the Template file I deleted (default, or defaults or Default or default page... I don't remember.) then this message pops up because the Client Response function needs this template.

What is the correct name of this template? I could try creating one with that same name and see if that fixes it.
Currently I have the Default Template set to a template called 'Front Page'
I also tried to put in '1' for the identifier for that template, but it no likey.

Re: I broke it!

you're enabling password protection. Is this also a Managed album?
Look in the album (in Lightroom) under the Integration tab, under Client Response. Make sure it's set to Unmanaged.

The page template you use for a Client Response album template doesn't matter. The purpose of the page templates is basically for design. I think most people use maybe a couple of page templates. One for most of the site and a full-screen page template if they're also using the full-screen Vegas slide show.

Re: I broke it!

in your Backlight > Client Response settings under Personalisation > Client Response, you have "1". This should be the name of a PAGE template chosen from the drop-down.

Re: I broke it!

I think it might be set to Managed by default.

Looks like you can't have a CR album both Managed and password protected at the album level.

Re: I broke it!

Since this is related, I'm adding a new question.

When I make a Client Response by selecting photos from the test gallery and emailing the choices, they do get sent to me.
However, when the email send button is clicked, you are sent back to the log in screen for that gallery.
I would expect to be taken back to the gallery, since I'm already logged in.
Is this normal?

Second problem:
If I log in to a customer response gallery as admin, I cannot use the response feature, because I have to log in as the client.
Ok, I get that, but there is no way to log out!

Edit:
Ok - I guess clearing Cookies 'logs you out'.
Phew! I didn't want to erase all passwords in my browser!

Re: I broke it!

Yes. You probably have the feedback Post Submission Actions set to "Close Feedback..."

Check the Backlight > Client Response Settings > Feedback Submission section.

Which log out are you referring to? Backlight or logging out of a client response gallery?

Re: I broke it!

For logging out of an album, you can add a Logout button to your Client Response Managed client response albums by adding this to your album template's copy area:

<a href="/backlight/client-response/?c=client&a=logout"><input type="button" value="Logout"></a>

If you're using album level password protection, try adding this

<a href="?logout"><input type="button" value="Logout"></a>

..and I just added this to the Tips and Tricks forum!

(test/test)
So I logged out of Backlight and used IE to ensure there were no Chrome caching issues.

I logged into the album and as soon as I select an image, I get an error message:

'Something went wrong
You are not currently logged in...'

What's wrong now?

Re: I broke it!

I have found a recipe that works for me.
I do not add any 'Clients to the Client response section.
In LR Publisher (edit Album) I enable Password.
Then under Integration tab, I have Client Response as Unmanaged and Enable Feedback.
This does force the user to enter their own email, but it's one less step (adding a Client) that I have to remember to do!
Thanks!!!

Re: I broke it!

You might find that using the Client Management features are worth your while. For one, it allows a client to log in, make selections, close the browser, and come back later to pick up where they left off.
With un-managed albums, the client will need to make selections at one sitting and submit feedback. If they submit feedback and come back later and log in again, then anything they submit will be a separate feedback submission for you to manage.

The advantage of un-managed albums is that the password can be shared so that a group of people can have access and submit separate feeback.

Damn, you make a good point!
On the old system that was a problem, where ppl would forget to send and lose all their choices.

Thanks again Rod.

Re: I broke it!

Is there a setting that lets you stay logged in to this site? I don't know how many times I've had to re-type my comments, after being told I'm no longer logged in when I hit 'Submit'

I just check the 'log me in each time I visit box". I've never been thrown off

This thread is getting really long and unrelated to the original topic so I've split some questions out

If there are more issues, can you start new topics for each issue?
