General Knowledge and Terminology...

Is there a place I should be reading or searching to find out the definition of something like...

Tray 01 Copy vs 02?

or

Where exactly the Top Pallet Title is...

and similar other things that I can make a decent guess about but seems like there might be a better source of info than guess and check.

Re: General Knowledge and Terminology...

No specific place.
Tray Copy 01 and 02 refers to the copy you can place in either of the trays. Think of trays as sidebars.
Try creating a page template that uses one or both trays (two or three column layout) and place copy in each of the trays. You'll quickly see what's going on.

Top Pallet Title refers to the Title that appears in the Top Pallet.
In your page template under Top Pallet, click the radio button that gives the Top Pallet height on the desktop. This will make sure it always appears on desktop-based browsers.
Under the Masthead control group, look for Top Pallet Title and make it visible.

Create a page using that page template and you should see a Title in the Top Pallet as well as text in both Trays (sidebars)

Ok... that helps greatly... understanding that you need multiple columns to see the trays helps.  I was thinking up down not left right.  wink

Re: General Knowledge and Terminology...

The pallets (previously "trays") are a little more complicated than that, though.

For example, if you have a one-column layout, then no pallets. Until you're in the mobile view, then we create a pallet to accommodate your site navigation.

If you're using a two or three-column layout, then your pallets are on-screen at desktop display sizes, so you have options for putting the navigation in one of them full-time, if you'd like, along with other content.

There are four pallets -- top, left, right and bottom -- though there's not much you can do with the bottom pallet apart from editing the copyright statement.

In general, the controls for various parts of the page design are grouped together. So if you're uncertain what something refers to, then you can quickly figure it out by making an obvious change and seeing where that change occurs on the page. For example, not sure where to find the top pallet? Well, (assuming it's visible on the page) change its background-color to red and see where that change takes place.

I hope that helps.
