Is there a switch to enable/disable the share menu? Also is there a way to customize it (i.e. add a button to share on Google+ etc)

To disable the social profiles button, remove clear out all the social media fields in the Social Media section.

If you need more than four, you can add additional buttons via phplugins http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … _phplugins

I think maybe he means the image share menu when presentation type is slideshow? I don't see a php hook for that.

In fact, the phplugins code is already in place in the phplugins-pangolin-sample.php file included in your Pangolin download. There's even code for the Google+ icon.
Look under backlight/custom/phplugins. It's the last sample function. All you'll need to do is choose the appropriate function to place new icons where you want it to appear (before or after existing links) and add your social profile link.

there are the ttg_single_top and ttg_single_bottom hooks if using the single html presentation

I use those hooks, but on the slideshow there are already some social media share buttons unlike the single image and I wonder if he wants to change those. Just a guess, though.

I don't see any way to add/edit/disable the Fancybox sharing icons.
And probably no way to hook into them since it's a third-party application.

Might be nice to have something in the template settings or Backlight Settings to choose the social sharing sites we want to use. Or if we want to use them.

Probably easier said than done...

I agree easier said than done. There are so many social sites and their sharing syntax is all different, whereas the follow syntax is just a link to the site with your 'userid'.

Im new to TTG/Backlight. Can you write me how to add photo sharing options e.g. on facebook?
Of course if it's possible for Backlight and Cart.

This depends on the Photo Presentation you're using in your template,
If using the Slideshow presentation, then when you look at the large images in the album, click on the photo icon in the upper right. A vertical bar will appear with sharing options that include Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter, along with permalink, and map icons, and a download icon if downloads are enabled.
These icons are there by default. No set up needed.

The Single Image presentation option doesn't have social sharing icons

Password protecting an album automatically disables sharing. There's no sense sharing an image with the public if the public cannot access that image without logging in.

There is sense... Gallery is build for my clients. Pictures with them and their wedding guests can be shared by themselfs

That's not how sharing to Facebook works, though. When something is shared from a website, then you're sharing a URL to that item, not the item itself. Which is to say, sharing an image from a gallery is NOT the same as uploading that image directly to your Facebook wall.

And so, if the URL of the item being shared is inaccessible by public visitation, then there is no use in sharing that item. Otherwise, anyone clicking the shared item would be presented with the login screen, for which they do not have credentials.

In this case, you might just hide the album. This way, the guests need the direct link to the gallery and other visitors will not see it.

Neither can we change the way that sharing works on Facebook. Charlie's code will amount to the same; you're sharing a page URL to Facebook, and that share will link back to the source page. Again, this is not the same as uploading an image directly to your wall, which is the behavior you are seemingly expecting.

This is not a limitation native to Backlight; it's a limitation native to Facebook.

If you want to share something from a webpage, then that Share, as it appears on Facebook, will link back to its source. That source should therefore be publicly accessible, else anyone clicking the shared item will find themselves stuck on a login screen for which they have no access.

Share buttons cannot post raw images to a user's wall/feed, and so you will not get the same behavior viewing a shared image as you would when viewing an image uploaded directly to a Facebook wall or album.

To share the link to the .jpg on facebook instead of the link to the page you would change '.$actual_link.' to '.$imgfullpath.' in my example. When they click on the image in FB, though, it will still take them back to the image in your gallery.

You would not want to put the code in any of backlight modules themselves though as that would cause you version control problems down the road, you would want to activate phpplugins and put the code in either the ttg_single_top or ttg_single_bottom hooks.
