Re-sort thumbnails?

I would like to change the order of the thumbnails in a gallery and not have to re-publish the whole gallery. Is there a way to do this?

Yes.
First go into the Publisher settings in Lightroom (double click on the Publisher instance).
Under "Other Publishing options", check the "Push metadata without updating existing photos" box and save. When you get the message about having changed settings, click "Leave as is"

In your album, resort the thumbnails as needed.
Right click on one of the thumbnails and choose Mark for Republish.
Click Publish.
