So this just happened. Tried to add photos to a Pangolin Album, and it ain't happening. Lightroom message when publish is attempted: "Can't update this collection. The rendition could not be created. Please ensure that the original file name is accessible, especially when stored on external or network storage." It is.
Since I last did this operation, have updated to Backlight 1.2.2, and may have had a Lightroom update. Never had a problem previously. Anybody else have this problem?

Hi Randy, as the message states, is the original file accessible? If it's located on an external or network drive, then make sure that it's attached.

And Lightroom cues the new images up for publication, but that message comes up when I click "Publish".

The error happens when a rendition creates an empty file. Can you find the ttg.log file in your Documents directory and look for lines that include the text "unable to create rendition for". This will indicate where on the disk Publisher was attempting to create the rendition. Please paste the full lines here.

Hi Randy, I've just realised that the message we're looking for won't be created as Publisher throws the error in the preceding line.
I've sent you an email with a link to a Publisher that rectifies this. Can you give that a go and post the result?
I suggest also that you have a look for the directory and file that LR attempts to create, to see whether the directory and file have been created.
As an example, here is a message on my computer that I forced to be logged when there wasn't an error:

Hi Ben,
Duh. Missed the first part of your message above. I will do as you suggest.
Disk is not even close to full, although everything that is put on the desktop is also put into iCloud, and I have been getting messages to the effect that iCloud is almost full. I have been ignoring those messages, but could that be causing the problem?

Hi Randy, iCloud's not likely to be the problem. If you're on a Mac, then the location should be similar to where I posted above (under /var/folders), which I doubt would be synced to iCloud.

Does the file exist at /var/folders/p3/qxrpwj8140nffz_9jht4fp_c0000gn/T/bridgeoverthewabash.jpg and is it empty or an actual image?
Can you try removing that from the publish queue and seeing whether other images have the problem?
Also, try exporting that image and see whether LR has trouble doing that.

I removed that image, and two more that were reported missing, and publication worked. Have not yet tried exporting the images or looked at the folder in question.

Hi Ben,
Phew! I don't know what might have happened, but Lightroom was showing the folder containing the images in question (the Import folder, on the Desktop) as containing 351 images, when it actually contained about 15 images. I deleted the folder from Lightroom and re-imported it, and I appear to be back in business! ???

For what it's worth, when I tried to add an image to the Theater homepage, strange things again happened in Lightroom. I deleted Lightroom from my Mac (keeping all the settings, etc.) and reinstalled it, it now appears to be working correctly again, although it is showing most of the published abums as containing "0" images. I am able to correct this by re-importing them.
But my Theater presentation is bollixed. I have 17 images in the slideshow and it displays the first 16 images, then repeats 11 images previously displayed, then displays the 17th image, and starts over. When I change the presentation from "Vegas Slideshow" to "Filmstrip", the same thing happens (and btw each image in the filmstrip does not fill the frame; the edges of the previous and following frame are present). Maybe I should re-upload Theater 1.2.2? I am going backwards here.
If I do need to re-upload Theater 1.2.2, I need the link, as I have deleted the download I previously did.

I remembered I did have the files. re-installed Theater 1.2.2, no change. Removed that and installed Theater 1.2.1, no change. Removed the image the slideshow stopped on, stopped on the next image. Re-installed 1.2.2. https://randyhoffner.com

For me, it's stopping on the moon. Is that what you're seeing? The error displayed in the console log relates to the next image after that failing to load:

Yes, on the moon. Ah, yes, should have looked at the developer tools, shouldn't I? I restored that image (that was my fault). Now it is running, but still repeats a number of images in the middle of the sequence, as I described in post #16.
Plays the first 15 images, then repeats 10 images from the middle of the sequence, then plays the final, 16th image. Where would I look to see what sets up that sequence?

Hi Randy, the Theater album has 26 photos in it, but only 16 distinct photos on disk. Removing all of the photos and re-publishing them may fix it. If not, then please provide me with a Backlight admin login, and I'll remove the duplicated images from the database.

Where would I look to see what sets up that sequence?
For this presentation type, the images are defined in a JSON data set in one of the <script> tags at the bottom of the page.
