Hi,
all I see on http://theturninggate.net/template-presets/ is a download button above the large screenshot that results in downloading a .txt to my local disc.
What do I miss?
Nice weekend

The Download Presets button is on your Backlight > Designer > Templates page, right at the top.

Hmmm, in the blog it says "In the preview, click the “Import Preset as New Template” button."
When I try to import the downloaded file backlight-preset-preset-redheaded-page.txt, Backlight gives me a syntax error.
So I thought the preset has a different syntax an needs to be imported directly from the presets page on theturninggate.net.
edit: The same with backlight-preset-preset-soonchunhyang-page.txt

I got the same error when I just tried downloading a template (Redhead), saving it, and importing the text file.
I then clicked on the Download Templates button again and tried another template. This time, instead of a download button at the upper right there was an "Import Preset as New Template" button. That worked. It was a one-click operation.

I also tried it in Chrome and got the same results.
In Backlight I clicked on the Download Template Presets button. That took me to the Template Presets page.
I clicked on one of the images.
the preview opened with "Download Preset" button in the upper right. I clicked that and the text file downloaded. I did that for all the presets.
When I tried to actually import it through the Backlight preset importer, I got the syntax error message.
So I again clicked on the "Download Template Presets" button in Backlight and went back to the Template Presets page.
But this time, when I clicked on one of the templates, when the preview page opened the button was now a "Import Preset as New Template" button rather than a "Download Preset" button.
Clicking on the Import Preset button imports the preset directly into Backlight.
I have no clue why it initially started as a Download Preset button.
(exact same thing happened using Opera)

I've found that there was an issue with downloads, which added a PHP error that rendered the template invalid. This is now fixed.
The import button relies on picking up the Referer (sic) value when clicking from the List Templates page. I would think this should either work for all occasions you come in from the List Templates page, or not at all (for example, if your browser is configured to not provide the Referer). I'm not sure why you would initially see a download button instead. This could be tricky to debug.

I also tried Internet Explorer, which I never configured in any way.
I entered my template listing, clicked the "Download Template Presets" button, clicked a miniature. Same thing.
Did this some minutes before this post. In case it might help, my current IP is 83.135.6.33

What do you mean by 'same thing'? What happened?

Can you visit your List Templates page then copy and paste the full URL shown in your address bar?

I only got to see the DL button after entering via the button on my template list. No matter which browser I use.

This "DNT 1" irritates me. My browser is not configured to send it.
The Internet Explorer, I also tried, is as out of the box.
Here's one from chrome, where I see no DNT but "Referrer Policy:no-referrer-when-downgrade" whatever that means:

Thanks for the further info. Interesting.. as asked, can you provide the URL of the page of your List Templates page? e.g. http://yoursite.com/backlight/designer/ … _templates
I have just discovered the same missing 'referer' when running my test site over https. Is your site loaded over https? From Google:
"A Referer header is not sent by browsers if: the referring resource is a local "file" or "data" URI, an unsecured HTTP request is used and the referring page was received with a secure protocol (HTTPS)"
I'd really not want to pass the URL as a parameter. Changing the "Download Template Presets" from a link to a form submission button would allow us to send it as a form variable would be another way.
