i followed the 1.2 update instructions. now when i log into my admin page, the admin page seems to have lost all formatting. that is, it is displayed just as a hierarchical list on the page. there are no menus etc as before.
when i go to my actual url, i get 'index page not found'
help?

Sounds like an error in the update process.
Did you visit all the required sections in Backlight to finish the updates?
Double check that you've uploaded the 1.2 folders and files to the right places

yes. i did. then i though perhaps if i just kept my directory structure cleaner it would be better. within public_html, i host a few domains. i moved my backlight folder (previously at /public_html) to /public_html/job. i edited the directory in the lightroom publisher to http://www.joliverbrooks.com/job/backlight/publisher/ . it authenticates fine.
i tried re-uploading from lightroom and got the error
Unable to perform action: uploadRendition
Message: path was not found: /home1/joliver1/public_html/job/galleries/sequence-1-solitude
shouldn't TTG publisher create this directory?
i can still get to the outline form of the admin log in. i can move the updated files over again, but i actually deleted each and then copied over from the readMe. (using the latest hot fix files if that matters)

Some files are missing.... I would re-upload all files from the 1.2 release. It seems that backlight/modules/okapi-core does not exist.

i re-uploaded the 1.2 files to http://joliverbrooks.com/job/backlight/
i still get the outline view of the admin page.
(my site doesn't load at all, but this could be because i cannot clear caches etc)
the admin page now looks like this:
Backlight
Dashboard
TTG Backlight version: 1.2.0
Quick Links
Backlight Settings
Manage Users
Special Links
View PHP Info
List PHP modules
phpLiteAdmin

It looks like you've copied files to the wrong directory.
Try copying the following two index.php files again:
1. backlight/index.php to backlight/index.php
2. backlight/admin/index.php to backlight/admin/index.php
Offline
i just did that. it still shows the admin page as an outline.
i could move the backlight directory back up to /public_html , though i had the same problem there.
weird, as i only dragged over the directories as instructed. it worked fine in the past.

also, the readme says
1. **Remove and re-upload the following files and directories:**
* backlight/admin/
* backlight/designer/
* backlight/framework/
* backlight/publisher/
* backlight/modules/module-pages/
* backlight/modules/okapi-core/
* backlight/modules/standard-album/
* backlight/modules/standard-album-set/
* backlight/modules/standard-page/
yet in the 1.2 update the following directories are not included in the download
* backlight/modules/standard-album/
* backlight/modules/standard-album-set/
* backlight/modules/standard-page/
i've now moved backlight to joliverbrooks.com/public_html/
i still cannot get the regular backlight admin page (http://joliverbrooks.com/backlight/admin/) even though i have uploaded the new files three times.

Hi John,
Backlight should be loaded into your public_html folder, i.e. public_html/backlight. It should not be any place else.
You are correct, the standard-... modules are not included in the download. Those are the older okapi modules, now being replaced by Pangolin. You should retain these folders in your installation for as long as you're using okapi-based pages. When you eventually migrate fully to the new pangolin modules, then you may discard them.
You can download the latest versions of these modules from here:

If the admin layout is borked, then I would guess that the upload is incomplete. You may be having connection issues. You'll want to make sure that Backlight is installed in the correct location, as above, and also that the application has correctly uploaded in full. These things being the case, I expect things should run fine.
If you continue to struggle with this, you may contact me via email with your FTP details, and I'll see whether I can help.

thanks matthew. i put everything back in public_html.
i have re-uploaded the update several times and it still seems to not work. (TTG publisher from lightroom uploaded my galleries again). i'll email my ftp info. appreciate the assistance.
don't know what i did, as all the other upgrades have been uneventful.

I can have a look and try to work out what's going wrong. Can you email me an FTP login using the Email link under my picture?

Hi John,
I received your email, but neither Ben nor I are able to log in using the credentials you sent. Can you double-check your FTP settings and login, and please let us know.

I've been able to login and fix a couple of things:
1. You were missing backlight/modules/okapi-core. I've uploaded this.
2. This file intended for backlight/index.php had been uploaded to the top of your website. I've uploaded the file intended for the top of your website.
Did you purchase Backlight+Pages? If so, you'll also need to upload backlight/module-pages/. If not, then you'll need to provide your own index.html or index.php for the top of your site.
I see that there are non-TTG/Backlight files and directories inside backlight/ Is that intentional? There's no need to put any of your own files under backlight/, other than the optional custom CSS and PHPlugins files within custom/.

Thanks. much
I must have inadvertently delated something. i do have pages and uploaded that directory.
BUT
i can now get the admin page to work fine, but my site doesn't work.
i trued re-uploading 4 albums from LR, which thinks it uploaded them. But i don't know where it put them and they don't show up on my page.
if i uncheck the push meta-data box in TTG publisher in lightroom i get this error:
Unable to perform action: uploadRendition
Message: path was not found: /home1/joliver1/public_html/galleries/sequence-1-solitude
I used to have 9 albums. (i still do in LR, but they don't seem to upload). did i delete something else accidentally?

have you changed the API url at all?

when i was trying to fix things, i had changed the API url, but then changed it back to the original.
currently it is http://www.joliverbrooks.com/backlight/publisher/
it authenticates.
i should add that when i look at albums under backlight publisher, it still thinks there are 9 albums (with names). however those directories don't exist. something must have gotten confused when i deleted the files to update.

If you deleted or moved the /data folder, that might be the case. Did you?
Offline
i'm not sure. i think i moved some things when trying to fix yesterday's issue.
what do i need to do to reset it and upload the albums again?

The safest way, probably ... in the admin menu, go Backlight => Publisher => Top-level Galleries.
On that page, click "Albums" to see a list of albums contained within each top-level set. Click the name of each album, and on the next page, "Delete Album".
After clearing things out, go back to Lightroom and publish albums anew.
