Using version 1.2 with Pangolin album set templates, I find that the rendered thumbnails created using the Iconic style to be of poor quality, appearing fuzzy compared to the actual images. This seems to be the case even when the default settings for Iconic are used. I cleared the template cache without effect. Note that I'm only seeing this behavior on album SET templates but not on album templates.
This is how it appears on one of my Pangolin test album sets: http://www.mabtesting.dreamhosters.com/ … w-england/
This is how the same page looks under Okapi: http://www.michaelblanchette.com/galleries/new-england/
There's a significant different in the shaprness of thumbnails between the two album sets.

In the case of the page http://www.mabtesting.dreamhosters.com/ … w-england/, observe the size at which you're displaying the thumbnails.
For your Maine album, this is the thumbnail: http://www.mabtesting.dreamhosters.com/ … 100301.jpg
So the thumbnail image is far smaller than it's being displayed on that page, which means the album set is upscaling the image beyond 100%.
You'll need either to redesign your album set around the smaller thumbnail, or create and assign custom thumbnails of adequate size.

In the album template, under Image Renditions. The controls there are the same as in previous versions.
Album Set Templates do not themselves have image parameters; they use images from the albums. You can set custom thumbnails, though, and we strongly advise doing so when using the Iconic layout in particular. How to do that, I have written about here:
